"This is a film about a system. It focuses on orders, policies, and patterns of operation, not deviations from them. ‘NAZA’: Exposing Israel’s killing machine in Gaza
Our new film shows how Israel’s slaughter of Palestinian civilians was a calculated and intentional act, through the testimonies of those responsible.

Disagree. The film as originally constructed sounds interesting, and I likely would have gone to a theater to see it. Now it just seems hokey and worthless.

This is the second time Mayor Bass and Councilmember Raman have backed out of a public debate forum in this very important election cycle, days before the confirmed event – a trend that demonstrates their inability to show up for the public unless it's politically advantageous to them. (1/8)

It took Karen Bass two and a half years to appoint a film liaison for the city. www.latimes.com/california/s...
Image of first two paragraphs of LA Times article linked to in post:

“More than two and a half years after she took office, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has fulfilled a nagging campaign promise to film industry advocates.

“She is appointing Board of Public Works President Steve Kang to serve as a liaison between the city’s bureaucracy and the film industry, she said Wednesday. The mayor made the announcement while speaking to a private Zoom meeting of her entertainment industry council Wednesday afternoon, according to three attendees.”

We need more courage from our leaders. If it’s not going to come from the Mayor and her budget proposal, then it’ll come from me. LAPD is once again getting a huge budget increase while important programs for our youth, seniors and small businesses are being defunded.

Taken at face value, a 1984 torch is not that special. It's the gall to hand over this symbol of teamwork as he makes it impossible to shoulder the tremendous sacrifices LA is making for "America's Games." But more importantly: WE DON'T GIVE PRESENTS TO FASCISTS WHO ARE ACTIVELY INVADING OUR CITY

That was fast. Caruso was even on TV yesterday saying he was reconsidering. Adam Miller appears to have donated profusely to establishment Dems, like Harris, Swalwell — even Karen Bass in the last mayor’s race — as well as state Dem parties. Not expecting much of substance from him.

iaacm.bsky.social @iaacm.bsky.social · 05/02/2026
If Caruso enters the race, I think that reduces the chances of Horvath doing so. Her path to victory would be more difficult, and like you said, she’ll want to keep the power she wields on the Board of Sups.

As far as LA Fed support for Bass, allegiances can change when the object of fealty is politically weakened and liable to defeat. I kinda suspect Dem establishment more worried about Bass facing Pratt (however unlikely his victory might be) as symbol of Dem governance, than switching to Horvath.
