The original Legend of Zelda. It was my first video game ever and literally some of my earliest memories ~3 years old playing my mom's old NES. Then my first new console that wasn't an old hand-me-down was N64. I jumped from LoZ and SMB1 to Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. Actually mind blowing.

I think Sony thinks they can turn the 20% of consumers that still primarily buy physical games into digital buyers instead of the actual reality, they will just have 20% less customers and nobody's grandma is going to be able to go to the store and pickup games for the holidays or birthdays.

Not going to lie, I've never been more happy for a demo to prove me wrong, because the Star Fox (2026) demo actually fucking rules. The new cutscenes add so much character, the tutorial stage is recontextualized, the cast actually come off as standoffish rogue mercenaries, and THE MUSIC AAAAAA.

Another 10 years of Xenoblade 2 discourse. Anyways my cold take is I don't want a XC2 Switch 2 Edition. I want a proper Definitive Edition with major QOL fixes like overhauling the gacha and field skill mechanics, fixing the awful UI, and better conveyance of proper blade combos and chain attacks.

In spite of my gut reaction in the moment. The CGs for the characters look way better and the actual gameplay looks incredible. I think if they just led with that James McCloud cinematic before splashing the cold water, it might have landed way better initially. Katt still looks horrendous though.

The Mario Galaxy movie was just ok. All it needed to be a great movie was to adapt Rosalina's story, the one bit of good storytelling there's been in mainline Mario, but Illumination couldn't even do that. I think a cold open of the storybook from Galaxy could have rivaled UP's if executed well.

Silent Hill f was a great game, but one of the most unintentionally hilarious moments in late game is during an important cutscene when it plays the fucking vine boom. I can only assume the devs used a generic sound library or something and didn't know, but it instantly whiplashed me lmao.

If the trademark is true and we get a Super Mario Galaxy movie, they absolutely need to cold open with an adaptation of Rosalina's storybook. Genuinely could rival UP for one of the most beautiful and tragic animated film openings. Total pipe dream, that is asking a lot from Illumination.

After finishing 100% completion in Donkey Kong Bananza, I immediately went back and did a minimalist "0%" run. Zero bananas, no skill tree, no fossils/outfits. I also managed to skip an entire layer and two Bananza forms (which gave funny unique dialogue). One of Nintendo's best games of all time.

The freedom in Donkey Kong Bananza is pretty incredible. I'm currently challenging myself to get through the Ostrich layer without actually getting Ostrich Bananza. So far it seems entirely possible just by making my own bridges and using the vine seeds in clever ways.

Potential unpopular opinion, but Mario&Luigi Brothership might actually be the best game in the series. The first half definitely has pacing issues and takes too long to introduce mechanical depth. But the later half gets surprisingly difficult and the story ramps up to a ludicrous degree.

I just want a mainline Final Fantasy with ATB again. I am tired of half-baked unresponsive character action and stagger bars. "Turn based doesn't sell" isn't an excuse anymore. Persona, Metaphor, DQ11, etc. all exist. FF has declining sales NOW with the current formula (or lack thereof).

I'm excited for GTA6 but dread the repercussions it will have for the industry. Rockstar could get away with anything. They could price it $120USD and it will still be the fastest selling piece of entertainment ever. And whatever GTA6 gets away with, others in AAA will copy to their own detriment.
