Ballard Power Systems (BLDP) secured a 4.8 MW fuel cell module order from Siemens Mobility for hydrogen passenger trains in Romania. The order comprises 24 FCrail modules rated at 200 kW each, expected to power 12 Mireo Plus H trains for Romania's Railway Reform Authority.Ballard expects fuel cell engine deliveries in 2027 and 2028, with the fleet expected to enter passenger service in 2029. The order builds on a multi-year supply commitment established with Siemens Mobility in 2022. The trains will constitute Romania's first hydrogen-powered fleet and the Mireo Plus H platform's first deployment outside Germany.
