Trump really benefits from his reputation of world-spanning ignorance. Reporters just accept jaw-dropping foolishness from him because everyone knows he's kind of an idiot. These exceedingly low expectations are one of his biggest assets, along with a lack of shame. time.com/article/2026...
"How can the president of peace be calling for the annihilation of an entire people?

Because by annihilating Iran, we've created peace in the world. With Iran, I don't think you could ever have peace."

The "play Minecraft" bug in America.gov's AI is very funny, but I'll note that it's such a remarkably *governmental* AI hallucination. Existentialism but *also* you need your paperwork: "You. You. You are alive. You still have to bring two forms of ID."

As an example, two years ago he was suggesting that we were at "peak ai" and saying that within the year it would probably collapse and mostly be abandoned. www.wheresyoured.at/peakai/
If you stop saying things like "AI could do" or "AI will do," you have to start asking what AI can do, and the answer is...not that much, and not much more in the future. Sora is not going to generate movies. It's going to continue making horrifying human-adjacent creatures that walk like the AT-ATs from Star Wars, and cartoons that look remarkably like copyrighted material from YouTube.

I believe that artificial intelligence has three quarters to prove itself before the apocalypse comes, and when it does, it will be that much worse, savaging the revenues of the biggest companies in tech. Once usage drops, so will the remarkable amounts of revenue that have flowed into big tech, and so will acres of data centers sit unused, the cloud equivalent of the massive overhiring we saw in post-lockdown Silicon Valley.

It really seems like @kenmartin.bsky.social might be one of the worst DNC chiefs in a long time. Most of your job right now is just to raise money, and this is where we're at?
D.N.C.’s financial crisis deepens
The D.N.C. is having money trouble. The New York Times reports that the committee is asking vendors to delay bills until after the midterms, and new reporting by NOTUS shows the D.N.C. recently took out its largest-ever off-year loan (a $15 million credit line) and put its partially owned Washington headquarters up as collateral, a practice the D.N.C. maintains is not atypical but that has concerned members given the scale of the party’s debt. As of June 30, the D.N.C. reported $16.3 million cash on hand and more than $18.5 million in debt, compared with the debtless R.N.C.’s roughly $128 million war chest.

On top of his empty wallet, D.N.C. Chair Ken Martin is facing scrutiny after the New York Times reported he threw a phone toward a young aide’s desk, which led to an internal H.R. complaint.

Trump has posted some tweets that tell people to stop complaining and trust him, and all of the top comments on the main Trump forum are *scathing*. He has some defenders, but I have never seen it this bad.
Okay. In the meantime you can pay for our groceries and gas then. If not ... tweet tweet mothafucka. 🐤🐦🤓Negative chirp.

Two more weeks… trust us why we lay the infrastructure for total surveillance and control while also establishing Greater Israel.oh, fuck this bullshit. you have done jack shit to reduce government by 90%, to deport at LEAST 20 million illegals, or to throw anybody in prison for covid/stolen elections.

You started a forever war that broke the economy. You had had a butt buddy break up with Elon so you stopped shrinking government. And what happened to deporting people?

you fucked up, Trump. this isn't maga. It's George W Bush and Romney shit.Diesel is 7.50 a gallon where I live. It’s ok to fucking chirp about it.

I usually think Nate Silver is worth reading, but not today. He argues that nuclear brinksmanship can sometimes be effective but is very bad (golly). Amidst this scorching hot take he says Ds shouldn't mock the TACO because it will make Trump feel like he has to carry out his threats.
Even if he wasn’t eager to launch a nuclear attack, Trump could feel like he’d be humiliated or would lose credibility if he didn’t follow through. And having a reputation for chickening out might make those impulses worse.

I'm trying to understand how this from @punchbowlnews.bsky.social makes sense. Can't a future Congress just zero this out if they want to?
The goal here is to bypass Democrats and lock in three years of funding for ICE and CBP. The price tag will be somewhere between $45 billion and $75 billion. This would keep the agencies on autopilot until Trump’s term ends in 2029, GOP insiders say, even if Democrats win control of the House and/or Senate in November.

I was just thinking about the case of a Nazi U-boat that attempted to kill survivors of a ship they sank. Their captain's defense was that they were just following orders, & it was an "operational necessity." The captain and officers were found guilty of war crimes & executed or imprisoned.

I googled a quote from the 2010 Robin Hood movie. In this answer, a bot gives the wrong answer, corrects itself to a different wrong answer, corrects itself to a third wrong answer, and ends up with a fourth wrong answer.
An image of an AI response to a question about a quote, in which the AI gets it wrong, correct itself, corrects itself, and then corrects itself again. It is actually wrong in every instance.
