i’m finally reading “if on a winter’s night a traveler” after it lingering on my list for years and i’m rapidly descending into madness invisible cities has been one of my favorite books for a while now and this is both exactly and nothing like it. it’s brilliant

i don’t think it’s a better film than i saw the tv glow, but it was much more enjoyable for me. much of that is due to the timing of i saw the tv glow - had i seen it at 12, it would’ve changed my life. but i have been living as a man since before schoenbrun’s egg cracked. it wasn’t for me by 2024

nah this really ain’t it. people’s labor is being fed into a machine for value extraction on an unprecedented scale. work IS being stolen. this is *exactly* what marx is talking about in estranged labor (1844)

Political economy conceals
the estrangement inherent in the nature of labor by not considering the direct relationship between the worker (labor) and production. It is true that labor produces for the rich wonderful things - but for the worker it produces privation. It produces palaces - but for the worker, hovels. It produces beauty - but for the worker, deformity. Highlighted : It replaces labor by machines, but it throws one section of the workers back into barbarous types of labor and it turns the other section into a machine. this was a combo of some house glazes from the studio i was at back then, saltstone ceramics in seattle - i don’t remember them exactly at the moment but it was a rutile pink underneath a light blue. the combo moved differently than i expected and i was disappointed at the time, but i like it now

now that i’m diabetic i’m really rediscovering the joy of soufflés extremely delicious and tons of protein and fats with very little carbs!! kind of my perfect food. lots of physical labor to make since i insist on beating my egg whites by hand but definitely worth it

it’s a nerdy gurdy linotte kit - including shipping it was €436,51 (~$497) and we did have to pay customs fees on delivery which were $75 not cheap, but still the cheapest way to get a good gurdy and the build was fun! i have basically no woodworking skills but it came together well
