That's awesome. If it does PocketStation, then it's the best already

Personally more shocked at Nausicaä getting a PG when that film was violent and gory enough for a PG-13. The film was submitted to the MPA in 2005, but they still gave it a PG even with harsher standards.

Granted, it won't be Star Wars Original Trilogy or E.T. levels of tame (some of the very few pre-PG-13 films I can see still being PG if released today), but definitely nowhere near as extreme as Jaws or Sorcerer.

Then again, Princess Mononoke would have absolutely been rated PG if it came out back in the '70s and '80s. Hell, considering films like Poltergeist, Sorcerer, Jaws, and the first two Indiana Jones films. Princess Mononoke would be tame by 1970s/early-1980s PG standards.

Forget that. It got a PG in the UK. But it did get rerated to a 12A (equivalent of a PG-13) for the IMAX rerelease.

Apparently, because of licensing issues with the company that made the British dub, StudioCanal. StudioCanal lost most of the Ghibli rights a while ago, so GKIDS can now release the UK dub in the UK, and hopefully maybe release it in the US too.

The entire Ghibli ethos is tied up in the idea of craftsmanship. It's a textual subject of the films (hand carving violins in Whisper of the Heart, for just one example) and the meta work that goes into the films themselves. Their films feature hard workers, and are animated with sweat and tears.

Amasawa Seiji carves a violin at a workbench in the animated film Whisper of the Heart.

Kiki takes a hot dish out of the oven in the animated film Kiki's Delivery Service.

An old man with bushy mustache and a robe eyes a precarious tower of building blocks in the animated film The Boy and the Heron.

Horikoshi Jiro, seated on a tatami floor in a traditional Japanese room, works at his drawing board by lamp light in the animated film The Wind Rises.

The only possible way for Nimona to be added to the Criterion Collection is if director Nick Bruno and Troy Quane can directly contact and negotiate with Criterion themselves. Otherwise, playing the waiting game is very slim to none. I would love to be wrong tho.

Well, given you're the same person who was recently singling out a furry online while they were going through a major mental health crisis and contemplating suicide on top of that, I don't think you're one to talk about "attacking". Attacking those contemplating suicide is incredibly uncool.

It was adapted from an unfinished manuscript which was published posthumously. And the film adapts the manuscript as literally as possible, so its story ends abruptly.
