All the stupid discourse over Metroid and Zelda 1 got me to look through those old manuals and it's crazy how much info they gave you. Turns out you weren't expected to "just figure it out as you went," and the manuals explained what you were doing and pointed you towards the early parts.

Did another run of Sonic Advance 1, but as Sonic and Tails. No matter how many times I beat it Egg Rocket Zone is just hell. Makes me happy that I only have Knuckles and Tails left since they can fly and ignore the worst parts of that act.

Having done a little more research, I've learned that it may not have been a normal thing back then. The first console ddr game with adjustable scroll speed was on ps2, so same console generation as Mario Mix.

For some reason I can bind buttons to my dance pad in pcsx2, but the game completely ignores all inputs from it. I'm super confused since it works perfectly with dolphin.
