There's lots of important messaging in this new guidance from GDS / DSIT on AI, open code and vulnerability risk. In particular: "Private repositories can create a false sense of security" and "Openness can surface issues earlier" www.gov.uk/guidance/ai-...

David Attenborough sparked a childhood wonder for the natural world and deep curiosity for places far from my door. I think I owe him - and fellow travellers in making TV like his - for all the places that curiosity has driven me to since. Happy 100th Birthday to him.

I had some fun with maps! Joined the Price Paid dataset with the EPC register to make a price paid per m² dataset to explore open data and some new tools. Credit to @annapowellsmith.bsky.social who did this nearly a decade ago, I'm just catching up. houseprices.huwdiprose.co.uk

Very excited to hear @nicolefv.bsky.social and Abi Noda have a new book. Accelerate is already a firm favourite. Wonder if there are plans for an audiobook like previous books? I've enjoyed flipping between the paperback as reference and audio when out and about.

@alexparsons.bsky.social 👀-ing recent MySociety work referencing AI, you know of any attempts to fine tune an LLM across the whole of Hansard? Having a chat with a bot able to reference the history of a debate or topic feels like one of the few LLM use cases I'd be super interested in playing with

Amid all the UK chat about steel this week I went back to listen to the second half of foreignpolicy.com/podcasts/one... Feel like it's the primer for global steel industry I've been missing in other reports. Tune in about 15 mins in after the Davos segment

Henry Story's work on http-sig and decentralised web blows me away. Like here, a vision for browsers and trusted authorities like government collaborating to reduce phishing, increase trust, make EV certs automatic and not a $$$ process. All Open Data, chains of trust medium.com/cybersoton/s...
