Open, here, would indicate the freedom to access, share, use, and reuse the data with minimal or no restrictions. The datasets themselves could be raw or processed, but provided with enough metadata and supporting documentation to facilitate understanding and re-use.

New #PhD #studentship on #OpenData in #Edinburgh in our Eastbio Doctoral cohort, teamed up with Gary Polhill of #JamesHuttonInstitute. We've shown that our colleagues in #Biology here share their research data at high rates. This studentship aims to understand RE-USE of the data, code, and models.

I can count on one hand the number of PS5 games I've bought since it came out. This generation doesn't feel like it added to the experience over the previous one, and I'm not hopeful the next gen hardware will either. (I got over 'lookit mad grafix' by my third issue of Gamesmaster magazine

*nod* Discoverability across the streaming board is atrocious. What I liked about Netflix was it at least has the 'hidden codes' index system. I just wish they presented it up-front

Me too. TMN was my favourite of the series and I feel it works works well as a standalone, so I won't be upset if the series doesn't continue. With that said, if they do carry on, I'm curious whether TLTWTW will still be set in the 40s as there doesn't seem to be enough time for TMN to grow up.

I can't imagine you're the only one with that impulse, follow up on it. (*still sore about the Lampeter Sunday service to Aberystwyth, which the single bus out arrived 10 minutes before the last bus back, while the first train in from the mainland arrived about 30 minutes after it left)

The problem with issuing invoice#2 to "Contra invoice cancellation invoice#1 | £1000" is that no-one except [you] understands that 'Contra invoice cancellation' in this context means 'cancelling' so now I'm faced with a finance office which needs evidence that invoices 1 and 2 are settled 🤦

It depends on who picks it up, but there are a few scenarios I wouldn't be immediately opposed to: 1) No-one picks it up and BBC let it rest for a few years; 2) Paramount pick it up for a single season 3) Apple TV (UK office) fills the Invasion shaped hole in its production schedule.

The one gripe, though, is that there are specified carriages for large bags, so you could end up the opposite end of the train to them. If you're going to do that, then you might as well have a guards van with a proper tag and management system. (Fortunately travelling light today) 🧵2/2

First trip on a Lumo train and I'm pleasantly surprised. What made the difference was an abundance of train crew ensuring that everyone sat in the seats they were allocated and that bags were properly stowed. Many other operators... and cinemas for that matter, could learn something. 🧵1/2

Worse still, that's the most stable and reliable route out of Nottingham. A big factor in why I didn't get on with the city was the absolute pain in the arse it was trying to get anywhere by train that wasn't on the London route.

Mildly fluffy, emotionally aware Cyclops, who was forced into the role of stoic responsible leader and continues to be gaslit that he was that caricature all along by [figures of authority] (as well as his own fan worship of a certain Captain) fits with the late 90s 'Children of the Atom miniseries.

Understood, should the worst ever happen, I'll lower my rat intake.
A screenshot of a Diagram from a Science article. which gas been clipped by Facebook.

A description below the title reads "Dietery lipids boost the production of prostaglandin E <suffix>2 (PGE<suffix> 2), a metabolite that mediates inflammation in mouse lung tumors. This activates vagal sensory nerves, signaling (sic) the brain to promote sickness behaviours such as loss of appetite and cachexia."

The image shows a silhouette of a rat next to a pile of food. An arrow labelled 'dietery lipids' points from these down to am image of a tumor, labelled "Prostaglandin E <suffix>2 (PGE<suffix> 2).
Another arrow points down to a label "Vagal Sensory" the rest is cut off.

At the very top of the image, the tops of the title of the diagram letters of a first line are cut off, so that it could read 'A high-rat diet can worsen the consequences of cancer'

Swiss Chinese collaboration builds a 148 metre tall tower to capture electricity(usin the same principle as hydrokinetic power) We don't need to build a tower. How much effort would it take to shoreup the shafts in the old collieries and install such a system, they run far deeper than 148 metres
