Now Ive got the materials to strip paint jobs really well I keep staring at my master grade gunpla like "what if I just... stripped the acrylic and repainted with lacquers". My Zaku II is barely months finished but..... it WOULD look nicer with lacquers.....

The positives are that using lacquers now means I can use enamel panel liners and holy fuck they just work, panel lining with acrylic ruined so many of my paint jobs but enamels, that shit just works

Fuck it, posting. Wanted a before and after to show how non-existent the colour seperation was. Theres a lot Im unhappy with but I also recognise it being an SD kit was self-sabotage for trying so many things for the first time, a lot of these flaws SHOULDNT happen even with an MG or even HG kit

Nothing exposes flaws in your paint job like trying to take photos youre hoping to post publicly. Shit got me considering stripping the whole kit and starting over. I should not have used an SD gunpla as my first full experience with lacquers haha

Learning how to airbrush lacquers is going decently well, the masking process and taking good pictures is still hard, but very very happy I pivoted to lacquers instead of sticking with acrylics. Panel liner wont be here for a month so this little RX-78-2 can only be so done for now
