Freedom used to mean individuals deciding how many children to have. I've never had kids. But when I was making that decision, one of the criteria was never: "I sure would like to help my region get more of the tax dollars we paid, back in the form of transportation grants!"

This happens every time an American service member rapes or kills a woman in Okinawa. Unfortunately, local govts have little power to restrict where the central govt wants to place military bases or nuclear plants. It sucks that the military is such a rape culture. But it always has been.
