Recently advised my neighbor that his American gay pride flag could be offensive to veterans, even gay veterans. He still didn't understand. Which is weird, because I know English is his first language. He is from Cleveland, though.

Google hasn't renamed the Straight of Hormuz yet. They'll pretend that Trump had the authority to rename the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario by ex order, not an international body of water that doesn't border the US. But if he turns a few screws, they will comply. At least for users here.

The best loaf of French bread machine bread I've ever made. On the French bread setting: 3/4 cup warm water 1 tsp sugar, sprinkle 2 tsp yeast on top, wait for it to get foamy. DON'T STIR Add 2 3/4 cup AP or bread flour 1 Tbsp olive oil 1 tsp salt Best grilled cheese or French toast EVER.

The first half of summer was the first I've ever seen. The last half has been among the wettest few weeks in many years. A distinct facet of climate change seems to be this whipsaw back and forth between extremes. It's a sword that cuts both ways.

Bluesky users are proactive! Admins are likely dealing with limited funding to provision enough bandwidth for spikes in activity. That's my opinion, but there should be a Gizmondo piece by tomorrow.

Bsky has been on and offline so day. It was positively flatlined for at least an hour this afternoon. What gives? I don't quite know. Could be a bump of new or returning users, could be not enough bandwidth provisioning. That does cost money. And it could have been a coordinated attack.

The thing about AI generated cover art is; you don't get a painting to hang on your wall. I learned a lot from my first effort as publisher. Working with writers/artists is absolutely brutal. (they're all quite mad) But there's no substitute for the human creative mind. Not now, not ever.

The media isn't talking about it, because they make a bunch of money advertising Florida up north. But the state is undergoing desertification and this is what that looks like. Florida summer humidity should be over 75% every day. 61% is California humidity. Been this way for weeks.
