This is from between 21 and 23 years ago. I invited Sen. Lindsey Graham to speak with our students and after his talk, he took some time to chat with a few Pi Sigma Alpha (Poli Sci Honor Society) students seen here. And yes the PSA President is tiny - shorter rhan the Senator!

Norman using the establishment v. firebrand/disruptor narrative. However, instead of mentioning “political games,” I wish it had said, “It’s the silly season, folks!”

To be included in the Poll of Polls list, CNN requires proof of very strict methodology standards. Some big names here: Reuters, Ipsos, CBS, Washington Post, and Pew. Oh, and a friendly neighborhood survey center that just started doing national polling.

Don’t forget that Lindsey Graham seriously considered running for president in 2016. Neither the SC general population nor SC Republicans thought that was a great idea.

More confederate symbols and partisanship: the difference between GOP and Democrats on whether confederate flag is a symbol of racial conflict is larger than the difference between Blacks and Whites. This is true in the South, the nation as a whole, and our state (which kicked off the civil war)

Confederate symbols and partisanship: the difference between Republicans and Democrats on leaving Confederate monuments just as they are is larger than the difference between Blacks and Whites. This is true in the South, the nation as a whole, and our state (which kicked off the civil war)

Graham always had a complicated relationship w/ the hard core conservative wing of his party. This shows Graham’s approval across a 1-10 ideology scale. I show one from fall 2024 and fall 2025. Note how the highest approval is at 9 (2nd most conservative) and slightly dips at 10

Lindsey Graham’s approval in SC general population by partisanship over time with Tim Scott’s GOP approval for reference.

A look back on Lindsey Graham’s SC general public approval ratings. Always “good enough” within his party until they unexpectedly skyrocketed. What happened? That poll was just after the Brett Kavenaugh hearings where Graham became Trump’s attack dog & won the hearts of the SCGOP

If the people of South Carolina had been consulted before the legislation was passed requiring Confederate monuments to be left completely alone, 7 in 10 would have said they disagree with it. Table 11 here: www.winthrop.edu/winthroppoll...

This is a General Population poll, not a likely voter poll, so the number of Not Sure is higher. We have a column for only those who expressed an opinion. We add this note above the results for clarification.
