Mr. Vindman said language added by the Senate to include violent crime and assault of a police officer as detainable offenses were enough to persuade him to switch, even though he had concerns about the lack of due process in the bill and its potential cost. We actually ran a fun little split experiment on the PRRI Christian nationalism survey late last year - half the sample got a favorability question for local police, other half got Capitol Police. The results among conservative groups are pretty telling:
