Egregiously stealthy, San Lang must have crept up on Xie Lian while he was too busy thinking thoughts, so when the god turned, the alpha's face was mere inches away from his. Even his dramatic fall didn't save Xie Lian from the penetrating scrutiny of that ebony iris. San Lang had no shame and scooted closer, one hand instinctively grabbing Xie Lian's shoulder to soften the immortal buttocks' encounter with the floor, the other, a total contradiction to its counterpart, reaching forward to leave a cotton-light caress on the former prince's cheek.
"S-s-san Lang?" Xie Lian muttered, his tongue stumbling over itself. Then, his heart did the same thing—whether due to the sudden elevation or the casual display of strength was unclear. With a single, fluid motion, the ghost hauled him up until he was seated on the bed.
San Lang looked angry, his lips pressed together so tight their pink was barely visible. This quiet rage had stolen the omega's speech, leaving him to wonder what he'd done to have offended the ghost so. His heart racing in a fiery mix of fear and submission, Xie Lian parted his lips to apologise, but San Lang beat him to it.
"Who…" he breathed, his tone nothing like Xie Lian had heard from the ghost before, its chill settling in the god's bone marrow, menacing and dark.
Spellbound by the possessive threads of San Lang's spicy scent as it grew smoky and harsh, he let the ghost cradle his face in both hands, the rough thumb gliding across his cheek, barely a touch that nevertheless nearly crushed him. Eventually, he gazed at Xie Lian again, one of his hands retreating as though to seek purchase at Xie Lian's waist. "Who did this to you?"
