I write fantasy and science fiction—Digital Dryad, Jormandr, and a cozy mystery that keeps growing. Seven books about HTML once. A small farm outside Seattle supplies the animals and the interruptions. jenniferkyrnin.com Newsletter: jkk.tips/jenn-bsky-nl

Have you ever planted things without intending to? #oaks #bluejays #ForestFactFriday Sources: jkk.tips/fff-bsky-ddw-bluejay
Blue jays planted the oak forests. A blue jay will pick up an acorn and carry it as far as two and a half miles before burying it—farther than any other bird is known to move a seed.

He grows the biggest gourds in the county. Pity what he feeds them. 🎃 Vampire Gourd, my horror short story, is out now as a standalone ebook—$0.99 and just in time for Halloween. jkk.tips/vg-bsky-jkw-launch #Halloween #HorrorShortStory
Book cover for Vampire Gourd by Jennifer Kyrnin. A huge glowing purple gourd looms over a dark, kneeling silhouette of a person with arms raised toward it, small splashes of blood on the ground around them. Thorny purple vines and broad green leaves fill the frame. The title is in jagged green letters across the gourd. At top, a quote reads "Who would've thought you could fear a plant."—Goodreads reviewer.

Winona is sure the beekeeper across the river wants to kill her grove. She's wrong. The fungus she's terrified of is called honey fungus for the color of its caps. Unrelated to bees. She was wrong about the bees. She was right about the rot. jkk.tips/jenn-bsky-jkw-mg
A wide view of the cover art for The Honey Tree. A row of white beehives sits on the far bank of a broad blue river, and a dryad with long white hair braided with willow leaves watches them from the near bank at the right edge. The book cover sits on the left, titled The Honey Tree, a Digital Dryad story by Jennifer Kyrnin.

Winona Willow is the one everybody loved to hate in Digital Dryad. Here's her side. The Honey Tree—a nature spirit certain the beekeeper across the river will kill her grove. She's wrong about him. She's not wrong about the danger. Free short story: jkk.tips/honey-bsky-jkw-260901

@mikeschmitz.bsky.social did you know that your form on your starter vault page doesn't display on Firefox (for Mac)? The fancy arrow points to nothing. Which is frustrating. I love Obsidian, but I am not installing Chrome just to get a starter vault. (p.s. I got it via Safari, but that's tedious)

Tree rings don’t just mark age—they record droughts, fires, volcanic eruptions, and even solar flares. Trees are historians with wooden spines. If a tree holds the past, what stories might it tell? #ForestFactFriday #TreeMemory #SpeculativeScience
