As a 9/11 widow whose husband was murdered by terrorists, whose remains were returned to our family in multiple heartbreaking stages, this is incredibly powerful. For 25 years, I have fought for justice, but justice and vengeance are not the same.

The military doctors and nurses who save even their enemies demonstrate extraordinary moral courage.

We cannot condemn terrorists for glorifying death while turning it into a spectacle ourselves.

I know the unimaginable pain terrorism leaves behind. But we do not honor those we lost by abandoning our own humanity.

Thank you, Robert Burns, for reminding us what America should stand for.
