Okay, let's fix this once and for all >_>
#### Batch Endpoints

One of the core features of featherpub is the concept of **batch endpoints**. What this means is that if you have an inbox:

```
/api/studios/{studio-id}/actors/{actor-id}/inbox
```

You can also expect it to have:

```
/api/studios/{studio-id}/actors/{actor-id}/inbox:batchCreate
```

In combination with the _studio actor_ maintaining the shared inbox, this allows one server to write:

```
/api/studios/{studio-id}/actors/default/inbox:batchCreate
```

To have a set of messages correctly routed, turning a $\theta(n)$ request pattern into a $\mathrm{O}(1)$ request.

Lol. Sometimes AI summaries are just _funny_. The term in question here—eme-sig -- gu7 (𒅴𒅆𒅥𒅥 probably?)—is a sumerian term that I'm evaluating the history of, since some sources list it as close in practical meaning to "lashon hara."
The Sumerian phrase eme-sig-gu7-gu7 (meaning "to slander", literally "tongue + low + consume/devour", corresponding to Akkadian akil karṣi, "slanderer/backbiter") is written in cuneiform as 𒅴𒅆竴竴.

The new region in #GenshinImpact's first newspaper came out and uh
HIRING URGENTLY! TOP PAY!

I, Grand Duke Diomid Turzov, seek to employ private guards and am prepared to offer generous compensation to suitable candidates.

(The sentence above was the best my servant could write. I fired him as soon as he finished it. He had no culture, no sense, and was very, very stupid. So I'm writing the rest myself. Everything below was written by me, Grand Duke Turzov, your favorite Grand Duke.)

I built a fountain. It was enormous. Without question, it is the most beautiful fountain in all of Snezchnaya. Maybe even the most beautiful in all of Teyvat. Better than the Fountain of Lucine. Much better. Everyone's talking about it. Then some horrible Tidalga got into the fountain. From Fontaine! They made the water look ugly. Total disaster. Very sad. But I fixed it. I did what no one else was brave enough to do! I drained the fountain and painted the bottom with beautiful, bright pain. After that, it looked incredible. So incredible!Then the idiots on the Snezhnograd Veche ruined everything. There is something very wrong with their brains, by the way. They knew the paint would feed the Tidalga, but did they tell me? No. Of course not. Soon there were more Tidalga than ever! Total disaster! But I fixed that too. I always do. I poured a huge amount of bleach into the fountain, and it became clean again. I won. A historic victory, like no one's ever seen!

But the thugs from the Rokot are still not giving up. They want to destroy everything. My big, beautiful paint has started peeling. My servants say the bleach caused it, but that is obviously fake news. Totally fake. The truth is simple! Those losers are sneaking into the manor at night and tearing the paint off with their filthy hands! Embarrassing. So embarrassing.

These paint-scraping lunatics will be found, and we're gonna lock them up! To make sure of that, I am going to spend a great, super great deal of money hiring the biggest, toughest, strongest warriors money can buy. A very, very great deal of money. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This remains one of my least favorite features of #ActivityPub. 1. It violates fundamental type safety principles. 2. "without authentication" means that it needs to be accessible to random people on the internet if read literally, and you would not believe the […] [Original post on hachyderm.io]
5.6 Public Addressing

In addition to [ActivityStreams] collections and objects, Activities may additionally be addressed to the special "public" collection, with the identifier https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams#Public. For example:

EXAMPLE 10
{
  "@context": "https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams",
  "id": "https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams#Public",
  "type": "Collection"
}
Activities addressed to this special URI shall be accessible to all users, without authentication. Implementations MUST NOT deliver to the "public" special collection; it is not capable of receiving actual activities. However, actors MAY have a sharedInbox endpoint which is available for efficient shared delivery of public posts (as well as posts to followers-only); see 7.1.3 Shared Inbox Delivery.

NOTE
Compacting an ActivityStreams object using the ActivityStreams JSON-LD context might result in https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams#Public being represented as simply Public or as:Public which are valid representations of the Public collection. Implementations which treat ActivityStreams objects as simply JSON rather than converting an incoming activity over to a local context using JSON-LD tooling should be aware of this and should be prepared to accept all three representations.

I have lost my mind. (paper is Well-typed programs can't be blamed)
Here is an example of casting a function and applying hte result

(<Nat -> Nat <= Int -> Int>^p (\lambda y : Int. y + 1 )) 2_{Nat}
--->
<Nat <= Int>^p (( \lambda y : Int. y + 1) (<Int <= Nat>^{\overline{p}} 2_{Nat})
--->
<Nat <= Int>^p (( \lambda y : Int. y + 1) 2)
--->
<Nat <= Int>^p 3
--->
3_{Nat}

The cast ont he function breaks into two casts, each in opposite directions: the cast on the result takes the range of the _source_ to the range of the _target_, while the cast on the argument takes the domain of the _target_ to the domain of the _source_. Preserving order for the range while reversing order for the domain is analogous to the standard rule for function subtyping, which is covariant in the range and contravariant in the domain.

[emotional abuse] I see the rest of the series isn't going to be any lighter in tone or content warnings than the first book.
A black and white manga panel rendered in a high-contrast, gritty artistic style with heavy shading and screentone textures. The central image is a close-up portrait of a young man with dark, spiky, and messy hair that partially covers his face. He has a serious, slightly shadowed expression and dark eyes looking towards the viewer. He appears to be wearing a dark collared jacket or uniform.

The entire image is overlaid with a dense block of repetitive, small, white capitalized text that acts as a visual texture. This text is a list of rules, starting each line with "Must..." or "Mustn't..." The lines are partially cut off on the sides and densely packed, creating a claustrophobic effect. Examples of the readable text include: "Must respond to his texts in under five minutes," "Must contact him every morning upon waking," "Mustn't refuse when he demands," "Must style my hair the way he prefers," "Must wear any gifts he gives me," "Must delete all male friends from my contacts," "Mustn't speak with other men," and "Must express how much I love him."

On the right side of the panel, there is a narrow, vertical white text bubble. Inside this bubble, larger, black vertical text reads: "...start reading his every look."

Let me ask you this real quick. Just between us. On what planet do you spend most of your time?
There seems to be a new attempt to turn ActivityPub into some centralized monolithic thing with hard coded limited vocabularies. This is an attempt to have a new central power in social networking via the control of the vocabularies of the exchange protocols.

The argument is the same for the same attempt in the area of credentials and wallets: The format is sooo complex, we can't implement. Let's do a simple protocol instead. And BTW, protocol/format combinations are great, please use mine.

Very few queer people took time out of their party weekend to join the protest, but local Fight for 15 members, mostly middle-aged women speaking in Spanish, gave speech after speech that moved me to tears. None of them had met their co-worker across the country; a few said they’d never met a trans person before that day. But they knew or had personally known the feeling of a leering, smug manager using his position to humiliate them in intensely personal, sometimes sexual ways. They shared their own stories about fighting a boss for their bodily dignity, connecting them to their disgust at the treatment their far-away comrade had endured. They knew whose side they were on, and in turn, I learned there were more people on my side than I’d ever imagined.

Of course there's also the Roman Catholic Catechism. Hey Vance, I'm talking to you.
2443 God blesses those who come to the aid of the poor and rebukes those who turn away from them: "Give to him who begs from you, do not refuse him who would borrow from you"; "you received without pay, give without pay."231 It is by what they have done for the poor that Jesus Christ will recognize his chosen ones.232 When "the poor have the good news preached to them," it is the sign of Christ's presence.233

2444 "The Church's love for the poor . . . is a part of her constant tradition." This love is inspired by the Gospel of the Beatitudes, of the poverty of Jesus, and of his concern for the poor.234 Love for the poor is even one of the motives for the duty of working so as to "be able to give to those in need."235 It extends not only to material poverty but also to the many forms of cultural and religious poverty.236

These people are not Christians. They are idolators. Like, my voice doesn't amount to much given that I am not a Christian and haven't been for some time. But it still irks me how they subvert Christian imagery in the service of their false idols. Matthew 25:41–46.
41Then he will say to those at his left hand, ‘You that are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; 42for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?’ 45Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

"Good," Bea says. "You've got to nip that sort of silliness in the bud, early."

"Have a lot of experience with trans women, do you?"

"Enough to know that if you give them an inch they'll steal ten years from themselves.""Stef, if I may be blunt—and everyone around me is, so I believe I shall indulge—you are a woman. You have always been a woman, whatever your external appearance might suggest. You have, therefore, experienced masculinity, and particularly the kind of grasping, possessive, abusive masculinity that we as a society have decided is appropriate to teach our young men, as nothing but a curse, correct? An unpleasant and often entirely irrational system of behavior to which you have been expected to conform, and uphold in others."

"Um," Stefan says, trying to control his reaction to being called a woman, to having his woman]hood recognised so casually, acknowledged so completely. "Yes, I suppose."

"Would you agree that your compliance with masculinity has been, shall we say, coerced? Not something you would have chosen for yourself?"

Stefan nods, and carefully avoids getting lost in memories.

It matters because the two points are deeply, inextricably conjoined. Democrats are not well-served by a meltdown, a spiral of demoralization that zaps their energy to counter the Trump administration and bounce back in two and four years. Understanding what happened is important because it impacts the future. Distorting reality is just as damaging to our ability to formulate next steps when it’s done on the downside, as it is when it’s done on the upside. It tells you what to focus on improving and when you decide to toss what you have and start from scratch. A political coalition that loses an election by one and a half points is by definition not smashed, moribund and in irremediable decline. All of these points can be summarized simply: You make the best decisions when you start from an accurate understanding of what happened. Recommended Reading. Man's Search for Meaning Viktor E. Frankl 1/
“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

  And there were always choices to make. Every day, every hour, offered the opportunity to make a decision, a decision which determined whether you would or would not submit to those powers which threatened to rob you of your very self, your inner freedom; which determined whether or not you would become the plaything of circumstance, renouncing freedom and dignity to become molded into the form of the typical inmate.”

*slams table* THANK YOU talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/uncert… #politics
I’ve made this point a few times in recent weeks, here and on the podcast. I’m going to make the point again because I think it’s critical for understanding this election nine days out. We keep hearing that this is the closest election in decades. Polls say that’s right. At least 5 of the 7 swing states are within a single percentage point — fairly meaningless margins statistically. National poll averages are between one and two points — right on the cusp of where most believe a Democratic Electoral College victory becomes possible. But I don’t think that’s the right way to look at it. What we have is a high uncertainty election. That’s not the same thing. There’s every chance that most or every race that looks close will veer more or less uniformly in one direction. And that wouldn’t necessarily be because of one late-breaking story, some great decision by one of the candidates or even undecideds all “breaking” in one way. It could simply be because the dominant understanding of the race and the electorate was just a bit off and had been all along.
