Drug laws prevent a legally regulated supply; hand over supply to international cartels & gangs; prevent quality control; deny consumer rights & tax revenue, fuel money laundering, crime, violence & overdose. Drug laws should not be fuelling harm. Please sign the petition for NZ Legalisation hrca.nz

Tragic death, 20yrs old using a psychoactive depressant drug. We will NOT call for the drug to be banned, we know NO drug is made safer by prohibiting supply or possession. Banning drugs significantly increases risks. Petition to get ALL drugs under control petitions.parliament.nz/0ab5ed2a-54c...

Truth!* *People don't know what they're taking; no labels; no list of ingredients; no quality control; no consumer rights; no idea of purity/content; use in secret; use in isolation; afraid to seek advice - fear of stigma; afraid to call for help - fear of arrest. The Drug War is fueling overdose!

Imagine the stupidity of someone opposed to life jackets, mountain rescue, seat belts, ski-patrol & life guards arguing: 'people should not be doing stuff that puts their life at risk, helping these people is only enabling and encouraging dangerous behaviour'. What bizarre, cold and callous logic!

We outlawed suicide, homosexuality, abortion & prostitution. We had laws that breached the human rights of women, Indigenous peoples. These laws had to be exposed & challenged, they were inhumane and wrong. Prohibition is inhumane and wrong — it should have been exposed and abolished years ago.

We can't properly move forward until we first develop an honest dialogue about drugs, a discussion that is rooted in evidence and truth. The legal vs illegal divide has no scientific or pharmacological rationale to support it.

Giving organised criminal networks 100% control of the lucrative underground drugs trade & threatening consumers with imprisonment has fuelled overdose. We've messed up & poorly managed the drug supply - far worse we've created the very problems we should have prevented. It's time for action.

The debate isn't about drugs - the debate is about the pros and cons of whether the supply continues to be left in the hands of unknown criminal networks or upfront and properly legally regulated.

Roadside drug testing will lead to more switching to drugs that don't stay in your system for as long as cannabis does (weeks even months). Unknown drugs that may carry far more risk. New synthetic drugs are a by-product of prohibition enforcement. #EndProhibition www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
