Today is Overdose Awareness Day, but Chris’s death won’t be included in the CDC statistics that paint an optimistic picture of overdose fatalities on the decline. Because his heart attack was the result of withdrawal, not overdose, there is no systematic dashboard that will track it. My latest.

This reporting gives voice to those whose perspectives could get lost forever. The overdose crisis is still deadly. It also explains the science, which is so important. 🧪

When Foxtrot, an "elevated" Chicago convenience chain, shut down without warning, people were pissed. They owed money to local food vendors, and backpay to store employees. Months later, they reopened with unsettled debt. I wrote about how for @motherjones.com www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

I write often about how private equity is destroying US healthcare. Lina Khan is a rare person who has used her position in power to fight back against private equity’s hold on the US economy. Very excited to see what she does in New York.

One big problem with AI LLMs is that they don't know what they don't know. If the only publicly available information about a shady company comes from that shady company's own website, the LLM will simply spit out the website's favorite PR talking points no matter what you ask it.

Meta is now completely censoring searches for the terms "trans" and "transgender" etc. on Threads. So much for free speech and free expression.
The images appear to show search results on a platform for the terms "Trans" and "Transgender" under different tabs such as "Top" or "Recent." Both searches result in "No results" being displayed, indicating that no content or profiles matching these terms were found or are being displayed in the respective sections. If you need further assistance or analysis regarding these images, let me know!

Educators, what do you do about ChatGPT homework? If you have proof / if you don't? I suspect this post describes some of my students, would prefer not to know how many... #EduSky 🍎
Screenshot with text:

>be me
>19, programming student for 1.5 years
›top of my class (90%+ scores)
>but been cheating on literally everything using ChatGPT
>generate code, memorize how it works, explain it to profs like I know
my shit
›everyone thinks Im a genius, people ask me for help, I fumble through "advice" and they figure it out themselves
>been smooth sailing until now
New subject requires us to use some in-browser VM on the schools server during the test
>monitors every app/website we open
>no ChatGPT crutch allowed
>test in 21 hours
>need 50% to pass
>dont actually know how to code
>barely know the syntax, just the concepts
Could maybe switch tabs without them noticing, but not sure if its worth the risk
>or do I actually try to learn enough Java in 21 hours to scrape a passing grade?
How fucked am I, anons?
