I worked at one of the biggest VFX companies for The Dark Knight. While Nolan was giving press interviews about how it was pretty much all practical effects, we had over 850 VFX shots that my colleagues were working on. Talking about his films not using CGI is part of Nolan’s brand.

There are many, many cool moments in the documentary ('Her Name Was Moviola') but my favourite is when the only way to watch their synced footage is on Stanley Kubrick's old machine, and you see Murch (3 Oscars) geek out a little bit. And later he goes back with Mike Leigh, and Leigh geeks out too.

Saw Her Name Was Moviola with a crowd of NERDS and Murch in the room. Bears many repeat viewings. In a short time gives a complete and fun perspective on the care and thought put into celluloid editing, and editing as a dialogue between filmmakers.
