Southwark Council *needs* to build more social housing, not allow more private developments. Where will all the folks already waiting on housing lists live? Developers always end up cutting the percentage of social homes after being approved. @shapecoalition.bsky.social @housingactionsl.bsky.social
"southwark council's plans for the old kent road:"
image of a series of high rise blocks around old kent road and bottom of tower bridge road/new kent road.

"at least 93% of people in southwark require either social or affordable housing!"

> multiple 20+ storey skyscrapers
> replace industial land and diverse buisnesses with gentrifying luxury flats
> unlimited purpose built student accomodation
> only 25% of the 20,000 new homes are social housing - developers will try to further reduce
> no protection for cultural spaces like Ornside Projects, Venue MOT and Avalon Cafe

Temporary accommodation in England is ‘torture’ for neurodivergent children, report finds
Exclusive: Parents said their children had become withdrawn or hypervigilant because of uncertainty, unsafe environments and removal of support Neurodivergent children living in temporary accommodation (TA) in England are subjected to conditions that amount to “torture”, and the harm it causes them is “psychologically excruciating” and a form of “child cruelty”, a report has found. The report by King’s College London through the all-party parliamentary group (APPG) for households in temporary accommodation, found that while living in TA was damaging for any child, it had a particularly severe impact on neurodivergent children and those with special education needs and disabilities (Send).
