My first Golden Apple. And I WEPT. I am not typically one to get emotional, but he caught me off guard. We didn’t have a longstanding relationship, I showed him tough love, helped him earn the credit that he deserved (after two other attempts) And it made me blubber, it was so unexpected.

Today, a student who took my class as a repeat course, who I jokingly gave a hard time every day because he was a senior (who needed this last credit to graduate in the fall) liked to try and take naps. I poked fun at that daily, and his name rhymed with yawn. Today that boy gave me a Golden Apple

I have a killer mitochondria tattoo, so she’s not wrong. I pick up the phone and dial my husband’s classroom who DIES laughing too. I tell him to make sure he gets her absences fixed because she’s been answering to someone else’s name. And that kids, is why I would never be in leadership 🤣

I immediately burst into laughter. I mean, tears are pretty close to streaming down my face. Kid tries to console me and said “you seem like you are good at science so I just listened” She was scheduled for my HUSBAND’S class, US History, NOT BIOLOGY, a class she sat in for a WEEK.

They’re 100% right. I don’t see a single one of my courses. I asked if she had her schedule changed recently, but she said no. She then says “yeah this is my 4th block, but honestly you’ve been teaching the wrong class for the last 4 days but I didn’t want to offend you so I didn’t say anything”

I also explicitly say: “hey kid, if I don’t call your name- let me know!” This happened to a student and I was able to figure out where they belonged. No biggie. Well today, one kid comes up to me and tells me they’re not in my Schoology. I ask them to pull it up so I can look.

It was a Gizmo- we love explore learning in 612. Anywho, I posted the join link and class code in Schoology (our LMS) and was helping kids get synced and whatnot, after taking attendance— very important to the story. On day one of class I ask kids to correct my pronunciation, nicknames, whatever
