This day six years ago, on the platform that shall not be named, two characters that were determined to remain untethered and unclaimed allowed themselves freedom to break away from their self-enforced solitude and follow the bond and chemistry that was intense, fiery… sarcastic, sweet, >

Coughs. “That’s time of year again. One day when I have to be nice to you @thesnappyhybrid.bsky.social .. Happy Birthday Old man… You must be ageing, when the candles are more expensive than the cake! Got to keep the fire extinguisher close by, just in case…”

He was there… Not Embry… Well.. Yes Embry, but it was his warriors spirits flashing into focus in front of us. Ten seconds… we felt him… his heart… his mind working… his questioning gaze. She stepped forward before remembering he wasn’t ever met for her. We were meant to be here for a lesson. -

I didn’t have the heart to listen to what he sent until now. And the moment it began I knew I’d made the correct decision. The night had been spent running with Sam’s pack, and then seeing the sun rising on another frozen year beside my Da. Playing the clip over and over again I final crawled-

Being a person of few words always paid off for me, until I wished I had those words that told people ‘some day… it will all go away. You’ll move on. You will be fine.’ But like I said. I wasn’t one for words. So, I held my head up high and nod it once. I wasn’t going to ask him to stay when he -

It all felt so broken… not him… me… the way I sat here, the way I spoke.. the walls holding me in, and him out. But it was a necessity. “Hmm…” he didn’t look me in the eye for a long time, and when he did it was broken too. The way his eyes used to make me feel.. it was broken too. -

“You know how ironic that is, right?” I asked still keeping myself still, not touching my glass. Until I couldn’t any more, and without thinking my hand shot out to be placed flat over the top of his glass stopping him from refilling it. My eyes were locked on him. Not saying anything. Just -

Nodding my head once, I could believe it. Of course his mind would go to those who were his family, his bloody. Setting my glass down, I crossed my arms on the bar top titling my head. I didn’t want to think too hard about our past conversations… too many emotions I was suppressing were -

Biting the inside of my cheek to stop myself to saying the words what felt so natural once to share with him. But I no longer had the right to say them. So, all I could do was sit here and watch. To sip on my bourbon and witness whatever this was in the moment. -

Watching him for a bet too long, I kept my place. My mind was clear of everything, and the rest locked down so tight that I should feel claustrophobic. Taking a deep breath, stepping up to the customer side of my bar, lifting my leg over the closest stool to sit down, finally lifting my glass. -
