'Linda's Head,' Helen's latest long player, is an absolute stunner. The mandatory dreampop and shoegaze labels fit in so far as lazy points of reference go, while the composition of that sonic wall is a simpler, yet still potent reverb-drenched wave bringing some unexpected surprises to the shore.

The Black Tambourine comparison is less of a 1:1 and more of a rhyme in my mind, and it's remarkably on-target. The two sneak peek tracks are as tantalizing of the larger work as much as they stand solidly on their own sub-two-minute feet. Yes, very anticipate, much waiting, so thrill, wow.

A while back Nnacy found a volume of 'Texas Songster' by #ManceLipscomb on vinyl, and I was instantly hooked. Wasn't expecting to find any of his CDs at Amoeba, let alone this out of print reissue of his second album, but here we are.
A CD in a clear jewel case for Mance Lipscomb’s album "Trouble in Mind," resting on a "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King" mousepad. The album cover features a black-and-white photograph of the blues musician wearing a hat and playing an acoustic guitar. The case has several stickers on it, including an orange "Out of Print" label, a yellow Amoeba Music price tag for $24.99, and a white sticker that says "As Seen on the Internet" with a retro computer graphic.

A weird-horror TTRPG about soldiers caught in a war that is quietly becoming something else. It has rifles, trenches, missions, factions, casualties, and military orders. You can fight things. You can burn things. You can hold the line. But this is less a war story than a journey of transformation.
