NASHVILLE, TN (August 25, 2026) – Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.

How to make a Spaghett:
Makes 1
Total Time: 3 minutes
Ingredients
• 1 (12-0z.) bottle American-style lager, preferably Miller High Life, chilled
• 1½ 0z. Aperol
• 1 oz. fresh lemon juice
Method
1. Take a generous sip from one 12-oz. bottle American-style lager, preferably Miller High Life, chilled to make room in the bottle (alternatively, pour out about 1½ Oz.)
Slowly pour 1½ oz. Aperol and I oz. fresh lemon juice into the bottle (the lemon juice
will make the drink foam up). Sip and relax.

For Black Cat Appreciation Day, my little man Hemi. I miss him every moment of every day 🖤

Black Persian cat with curious orange eyes sits with two mini pumpkins, one orange & the other white. He was my best boy who loved lying on heat vents as well as my head. He made me smile every day. Hemi passed away a few years ago but he will forever live on in my heart.

Happy “There will come soft rains” day to all who celebrate

Frame from a comic book adaption of “there will come soft rains” by Ray BRADBURY. In it is a futuristic house that while standing, looks like it’s been through a war. The sky is menacing. Trees are just trunks and stumps. The ground is rubble. On the wall of the house are white silhouettes of a 50s style nuclear family working and playing in their yard. The remainder of the wall is black. The text at the bottom reads “the five spots of paint… The man, the woman, the children, the ball remained! The rest was a charcoal layer…”
The short story was part of the Martian Chronicles, but stands alone is one of the greatest pieces of science fiction ever written. It is moving and sad. And I cannot recommended it enough, even for people who are not fans of science fiction.

So hot and fresh, the caramel hasn’t even hardened yet

Photograph of a box of Fisher’s caramel pop corn on a bench. They overfill it so you get some walking popcorn. The popped kernels are oddly uniform in size and shape. Idk know they manage to engineer that, and while it makes for very uniform munching, it’s can be quite disconcerting.
