I flick on the kitchen lights to see the spindly legs of a huntsman spider tuck themselves behind the electrical panel. There is no better pest control. Only tradeoff is never knowing when you might startle a 5-inch arachnid into hurling itself at you when you reach for a box of oatmeal.

Bugs meant the world to me as a kid . Help this classroom keep its creepy-crawlies (bonus snakes and slider!). They've got $210 left to raise. Someone out there has got spare change for a heat lamp. Who's with me? 🐛

Would also propose the term "Fintech" be repurposed to apply to these use cases going forward.

Martinez and the Argentina defense made the match for me. How they staved off that hailstorm and kept Spain to a single goal -- wow.

This reminds me of the time I went to an event where Art Spiegelman was speaking and found myself scanning the room for a mouse in a vest.

What an incredible match. Blood, sweat, tears, and a gorgeous goal from Gakpo off Sommerville's masterful assist. If we had to lose, going out on a last penalty from Sabari was quite the exit. I do not know the Belgians, but I will consider their case after an appropriate period of mourning.

In the Indian River Lagoon, I was heartened to see seagrass returning, and with it, life: crabs & shrimp, pipefish, puffers, barrel-rolling manatees. Released a pretty little red tinged with blue; we tossed mullet at a shadowy snook in the mangroves til thunderheads chased us to the dock. Next time.
A Florida woman revives a red drum in the waters of the Indian River Lagoon before releasing.

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

The backyard anoles are dueling for territory under a cloudless sky. Crests are up, dewlaps are flying. One hurled himself Spiderman-style in the 3.5-ft span of air between fence and pine and just missed the landing. He shimmied up the trunk, color-morphing from mint green to russet in two seconds.

Second this. Some of the best investigative reporting around. (And the op-eds by the Editorial Board can be a useful bellwether. On tariffs, they were absolutely scathing).

Anyone have a good-news environmental story from the past week we can share in the @therevelator.org newsletter? I have a lot of NEGATIVE news in this issue and could use something to balance it all out. 💀 I'll settle for semi-good news! Ideas welcome up until 9am PT Wednesday!

Eavesdropping used to be my favorite hobby until I realized most people on the phone were just describing previous conversations. The last time I was this disappointed was when I learned enough Czech to find out all the hushed conversations on the evening tram in Prague were about potatoes.

No Kings in Gainesville, Fla.
A protestor at a No Kings rally in Gainesville, costumed as Trump with crown and royal robe, holds a sign that says "I'm the King of Liars." Another protestor holds a sign that says "No Kings in America." Protestors with signs line a street in Gainesville at a No Kings rally. One sign says "Not normally a sign-carrying guy, but jeez!"Protestors wear inflatable costumes, including a chicken in sunglasses, frogs with crowns, and a skeleton T-Rex.
