Just your average overly tired nerdy Terran from Louisiana. (Note: views and opinions are my own and don't represent anyone else's.)

Still one of the most bittersweet things from last year for me. Seeing her in Mobile at Sunset as the train left for New Orleans, I figured that'd be the only and last time I'd ever see her in person unless I learn to scuba dive...

Listen to @bloodwork.show
An absolutely BATSHIT image of an unholy amount of security cameras positioned on wooden poles and pointing in seemingly every direction like some kind of fucked up panopticon that snorted LSD. I'm not kidding about this, by the way, this is a REAL thing and I didn't manipulate it in any way. There's "security theater" and then there's this shit, which is performing at the fucking Intrusive Surveillance Bolshoi next Saturday. Anyway, if you took the time to read this: hello! You are wonderful, but drink some water and stretch people, before ALL OF THE CAMERAS STARE AT YOU.

So for the Guppy aircraft, they're hinged on one side, so the front opens up and you can load things into the aircraft that way. The Beluga airplanes just have a hinged door at the front above the cockpit. The Dreamlifter is hinged so the tail opens up for loading cargo inside.

Airbus used to use Super Guppy aircraft for this before modifying their own planes to do it, so there's a pretty solid lineage. These were also used to transport Apollo components to Florida for assembly!

But yeah, back when you could still get 35mm from the Film Photography Project, I shot 4 rolls of it on my dad's old AE-1 and it's still some of the most incredible stuff ever made.

Oh, definitely! Pictures don't do it justice, but it is still one of the most awe inspiring and moving things I've ever seen with my own eyes. <3 Enjoy it, and I wish I was in line to see this one and the 2027 one!

There's actually an amazing final gag I laughed even harder at just now. One of the accessories on the car is a TV antenna... which is funny because now I have a car with a cellular antenna that can stream videos on the dash. Wild that, in a way, 75 years later, the car of tomorrow really is here.
The "affordable" working man's car... which isn't QUITE so affordable once you add all the accessories. Incidentally, adjusted for inflation, that price is the equivalent of $108,009.79, so that joke only gets more accurate and funnier with time.

"What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with." Happy #towelday and don't panic!

A McKinnon G-21G Turbo Goose (an upgraded version of the Grumman Goose). Because really, it's a plane that can land on water, a runway or a rough strip somewhere. This thing can get out of dodge and land anywhere you want, within reason.

Boy, disenfranchisement is FUN, y'all! It's SUPER fucking wonderful! I _LOVE_ participating in this process and having it not fucking matter! So anyway, fuck Jeff Landry and the rest of the GOP, because what the fuck, man.

So, I'm in Houston for the day looking at a car, but while I'm here... I paid a visit to the site of the Outpost Tavern, the astronaut bar near JSC that you might have seen in For All Mankind. It burned down many years ago and not much is left, but I'm the kind of space nerd to want to go there.
A wooden railing in front of an empty field that once held a bar frequented by astronauts.A small pile of broken concrete, dirt and pieces of wood, some with red paint on them. These once made up a legendary astronaut bar near Johnson Space Center.A wider view of an empty field with mown grass near some abandoned pipes and debris and a fence that once marked where an astronaut hangout was.An empty field with some overgrown pavement in Webster, TX. This was once the site of the Outpost Tavern, a bar frequented by astronauts working for NASA.

Olive the Aftonsparv has been given a proper protective suit! They look pretty cute in it, honestly. The former owner of it has been gifted to my mom, so she now has a fuzzy teddy bear while my alien gets a snazzy outfit.

They literally had "HOME OF THE X-37B" on one of the doors when I was on a tour there in 2014 and I was just laughing at the absurdity of "We can't tell you what it does, but it lives here and we are PROUD OF IT." (Picture below not mine, sadly, but of the door to one of the OPFs)

I took the Mardi Gras Service the week it began operation just to go see her down in Mobile, and... yeah. She doesn't deserve this. She deserved to be a museum ship and live on with dignity and restored to what she looked like running on the Atlantic. Now she'll be a reef. Just... damn.

YEAH. It is literally "ditch the tank, do a flip, and pull out of the dive with enough delta-V to get back to the SLF." It is absolutely unreal. I'm in a Discord server with the guy who suggested the video and as soon as I woke up and saw it, I was just going wide-eyed.

I do this a LOT with my stuff, since I tend to use the real world as a framework/inspiration for stuff. The most obvious example of this, though, is an astronaut bar in my setting which is explicitly an homage to the Outpost Tavern in Houston, down to the interior decorations.
