Probably 3/4 of the people in my former Edmonton workplace showed up in orange shirts the day after Rachel Notley’s win. Now that I have a rural address, I take great satisfaction in signing anti-UCP petitions and adding my very UCP postal code.

We’ve had a heat pump for 3 years now, using it as part of a hybrid system (the natural gas furnace kicks in at -5C). It’s worked like a dream while reducing our carbon footprint, and I can’t recommend it enough.

Our local stormwater lake was graced by several pelicans who flew in every night to snuggle into the reeds, usually 3 or 4, but once I counted 9. I love me a big white dinosaur🙂

After unsuccessfully trying to book my COVID shot online and through the AHS vax line, I finally gave up and booked at a pharmacy. With the injection fee, I’ll pay $135. Kicking my ass that I didn’t postpone radiation for 5 months so I’d be in active treatment and get my shot covered./s #FucktheUCP

My mother was a teacher-librarian at a public school. Of the thousands of children’s books she read to her students over the years, this was her favourite. I sang the song at her funeral - she would have loved that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

I went under general anesthesia to have a Mirena inserted because my cervix wouldn’t dilate enough to allow for in-office insertion. I told that to my ob-gyn’s (female) locum when I went in for removal. She said sedation wasn’t necessary, yanked it out and looked disgusted when I screamed in pain.
