Just spent 2 hours on a piece of game juice that looked way better in my head. Damn, I felt smart doing all the math only to realize that it just doesn't work! And it was a thing that happens for, like, 0.1 second! I want my 2 hours back!

I'm very proud of this game! We put a lot of effort in visuals and it was a first game I had to code a level editor for (dev only for now, but I'd like to add it to the game in the future). Go play it if you're into this kind of games! It's free!

Our first game "Tens!" has been globally released on Poki! 🥳 It's a puzzle game where you select numbers that add up to 10 to clear as much space on the grid as possible. Play it here: poki.com/en/g/tens #gamedev #indiedev #webgames

That's what happens if you put "cpu.make_turn()" into your "_process" function and you're not careful. New game in progress, btw. #godot

If you're scared of localization in #Godot because you heard that pluralization rules are cumbersome, fear not! It turns out, Godot has built-in rules, and you don't need to specify your own ones! I explained it here: hoodie-cat.dev/godot-plural...

Me: darn, our game is not interesting enough, most people don't play even for 1 minute. I need to do something with it. Also me: look at these sick scene transitions! Priorities? Never heard of them! #godot

Forgot to show you a game we made for the last Global Game Jam. We made another job simulator, this time about creating tiki masks. It was hard, we didn't manage to make a proper tutorial again, and a couple of design choices didn't land. Still, try it if you want. :) yngvarr.itch.io/tiki-workshop

Playtest shows that no matter how hard I try, people will always skip the tutorial. And then do the wrong thing. And then be confused. And quit.

The easiest way to create action lines in a shader is to take some noise and convert its UVs to polar coordinates 🙂 #godot #indiedev #gamedev

A week ago we participated in a local game jam and made a game about destroying surveillance drones that try to disguise as pigeons. It was very fun to make and the atmosphere of a local game jam was exactly what I needed to get the cogs rolling again. Check it out: yngvarr.itch.io/pigeons-aren...

After a lot of trial and error, it turns out THIS is how to scale a window and its contents by a fixed ratio in #Godot. It's these 3 lines of code. If you leave out any of these commands, you get the "wrong" images below. Do not ask how long it took to figure this out.😅 #gamedev #code #programming
A graphic showing how to resize a window and its contents in the Godot game engine. A base image is shown, followed by four "outputs." Three of them are wrong and have clear problems with their scale or sizing, the 4th is correct. The three commands used to generate the correct one are:

DisplayServer.window_set_size(new_size) # Vector2i (w,h in pixels)
get_window().content_scale_factor = scale # float (eg 2, 3, ...)
get_window().set_content_scale_size(new_size) # Vector2i (w,h in pixels)

And another game jam is done! We made a game about making music out of loops for GMTK Game Jam. This may be the most ambitious of our games in terms of scope and, I believe, we handled it pretty well. 😅 Check it out! yngvarr.itch.io/loopmaster-2... #godot

Yesterday we finished making our first game for Nokia 3310 Jam, a game jam where you're bound by the limitations of a very particular old phone. I loved the constraints, we could feel them empowering us! Go check it out: yngvarr.itch.io/coffee-to-go

Opened our old project and look at that! Every enemy has their own unique name. Do you do this too?
Godot's scene view where there is an object called Foes contains all enemies on the level. Each enemy has their own unique name: Mickey, Lance, Tom, Jeff, Lucy, Haru, Rodger, Urist, Ashley, Lewis, Grace and Karen.

Don't tell them I told you, but my friends have released a puzzle game named Lore Restore. It's an obnoxiously polished cryptogram game, give it a try if you're into this kind of stuff. store.steampowered.com/app/3192140/...

TFW you wanted to make a trail for a ball, but misplaced some values and ended up with a cool Superman-esqe cape. 😎

Was about to work on another game, but got caught in Tens! again and added game stats. Because it's always nice to see how many games you've played so far and what is your highest score, isn't it?
A default Godot-styled stats window from the game Tens. The window's title says "Stats", the content is three lines of text:

Games played: 2
Best score: 117
Total points scored: 226

Have you heard of Super Tic-Tac-Toe? It's a tic-tac-toe board where every cell is a tic-tac-toe board! Winning a small game makes a turn in the big one. And a couple more rules. I made a small prototype to play with my wife. I didn't expect this much tactical depth from a tic-tac-toe game.

How did you pick your username? I searched Wikipedia for names related to my real name. I wanted something simple, but ended up with the one that I liked the most. XD
