I watched a bunch of different versions of the story last week's just to compare. and yes, the kokandy production of jekyll & hyde in chicago in the year 2026 is not just the best version of that musical but the best adaptation of the strange case of doctor jekyll and mr hyde period.

Jekyll & Hyde is a 1990 musical based on the 1886 novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Originally conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, it features music by Frank Wildhorn, a book by Leslie Bricusse and lyrics by all of them. I did love the everlasting. I like a lot of harrow and this hit better than second death of Locke which I didn't think could be topped for lady knights! and the latest Ana and din novel is fucking fantastic, better than the first and second. I'm so happy

my favorite has been the renovation by Kenan orhan, a funky depressing novel that pulls a lot from corvid isolation and rising fascism. disclaimer by Renee knight (after I watched the show version of it so I ended up a bit biased) a slow burn thriller, very twisty, mixed on the ending. show is good!

The shuttle dropped through clouds of brown dust and landed hard. His teeth clacked together, biting out the edge of his tongue. Blood flooded his mouth, hot as fried wires, and Ben knew Jakku was going to be miserable.
The ship’s stabilizers kicked in a moment later, leveling them. Didn’t need to be able to see for a machine to do the job. His Master was… not the most adept pilot, but she should be forgiven. Outer Rim landings were always rough. They did not have spaceports or landing strips. They had dirt. Flat dirt if you were lucky. Ben Solo was not, in matters of probability, a lucky boy.
“Clear?” his Master called from the front of his ship.
Ben swallowed blood. “All good, Master. Perfect landing.”
She snorted. “Lie better, padawan.” She slid her hand across the console, flipping a dozen switches and powering down the ship.
“Perfect landing,” he said in his best imitation of his mother’s voice when kissing the ass of some senator.

His master flipped off three engines in the wrong order, and a choking bang rattled through the rear of the ship. Ben winced. He was going to have to fix them—and probably the landing gear—when they got to a real spaceport. He smothered the thought that she did it on purpose to annoy him.
His Master grinned back at him, showing sharp teeth. “Much better, little prince.”
He did not glare at her.
Jedi Master Iskat Akaris was a short, red Pkorian woman with a narrow frame, long fingers, and a jittery gait. She wore black Jedi robes, unmarked and starch stiff, clean enough that she could enjoy dirtying them planetside. Her lightsaber was clipped to her belt innocuously . The Emperor liked them to stand out just so. Jedi were symbols of his humble hand after all, thoughtful and ready to bloody.
She was a good Master. Well, for him anyway. All wrath and justice and simple solutions to complicated problems. What he, supposedly, needed to set him straight.

Stay close,” Master Akaris ordered as she unbelted herself and rose to exit the ship. Her hand ruffled his hair like he was a child. “This planet is full of thieves.”
“Yes, Master,” Ben said quietly, ignoring the hand, the taste of metal in his mouth. He followed obediently behind.
The ramp lowered smoothly, and Ben was glad at least this was not so broken he would have to repair it later. Heat rolled in, dry and heavy. The settlement spread out ahead of them in low structures made from scrap metal, fired clay, and scavenged hull plating. Power cables ran across the rooftops. Water collectors stood skeletal and brittle, some broken, some functional.
Niima Outpost, a place to find and sell scrap stolen from old Imperial ships. Ben wondered how hot the metal got in the desert. If it burned their thieving little fingers to the bone.
