the only reason I've been slow to adopt bluesky is because I really don't know many people on here from my real life. I am truly lost with how to find the right community for me. I love to follow artists, musicians, textile artists, nature photographers... where do I start??

starting fresh on a new social media platform means mercilessly blocking all the ai art I find

Hey bluesky, I’m Alex/ Honeycrush, singer-songwriter in NYC 🥀 3 years ago, I taught myself guitar after DECADES of wishing I had the guts to try making music. Next month, I'm releasing my first 6-song EP. I've worked through SO much ageism & self-doubt to get here & I'm grateful xx

Thank you for interacting with my posts even if you’ve already seen them. The way promoting art online seems to work is that the only sure way to fail is to stop sharing, even if you feel like you're being "annoying". Thank you to the ones who get it!!

I've been stunned by the love I've found on here for my music. If you've enjoyed what you've seen, please consider supporting the fundraiser to help me launch my first professionally recorded and produced EP, Dogwoods 🌸 Lush, energetic indie rock with moments of laid-back groove gofund.me/ae32c2f8

Every podcast I don’t listen to is called “Achieving the Limit with Duff and Ween” and gets sold for 300 million dollars while every podcast I do listen to is called “The Movie Toilet” and begs me to buy a t shirt so they can eat food

Hey it turns out, with a little distance from social media, I'm feeling so much better. Getting away from my phone is always going to make me happier than being absorbed by it. Hope you have a glorious day

Hey bluesky buds, I'm taking an indefinite sabbatical from social media. & I'd like to explain why. I've been posting nonstop for 3 years. When I first started sharing my journey of learning guitar, the hate & misogyny I got was awful but I was so proud of myself I didn't let it bother me (cont.)

my annual notice: please do not, at holiday parties, ask someone why they aren't drinking if they turn down alcohol. reasons vary and are usually personal and very much none of your business. also, if you are hosting a party, have non alcohol choices for people who do not want to drink

So grateful that 1 little post reached so many people who support & love to find emerging, small artists. I’m working really hard to put a full album out, my debut album & it’s stressful & exhausting at times. Just wanted to share my gratitude bc your kindness & interest are helping me through!

I share the ups & downs of my journey w/ music because transparency is important in a highly opaque industry. Solidarity with other small artists & indie musicians feeling the financial squeeze right now. The holidays + regular music-making expenses add up & I know I can't be the only one stressed

never EVER EVER post a cheeky video pretending you don't know something about your guitar because it only activates the dudebros and they will NOT get it

You might not realize it, but so many people look at what you do and wish they could do the same. Even when you think you’re just going through the motions, you’re inspiring others. Give yourself some credit—you’re doing more than you think.

I’ve noticed a slight uptick in followers on Spotify & I want to say THANK YOU if that was you. It can be hard to reach people as an indie musician but taking the extra second to tap “Follow Artist” means when I release music, it won’t get buried, you’ll be able to hear it. That’s all I want!

they will see

$What to Do When Someone Has a Panic Attack • Ask if they've considered that in season 6, episode 4 of the Sopranos, an episode of Gilmore Girls is playing on TV. In S07E17 of Gilmore Girls, Richard is wearing a tracksuit. Lorelai makes a joke about it by implicating a lunch date with Tony Soprano. • Ask if they realize this means that both the Sopranos and Gilmore Girls exist as television shows in the other's universe. When the Gilmore Girls watch the Sopranos, they will see themselves. When Tony Soprano watches Gilmore Girls, he sees himself and his family. • Like two facing mirrors; Gilmore Girls and Sopranos, a recursion, fractal, etc.$

Since I got my 1st guitar 3 years ago, some incredible things have happened: 1. My 1st EP was signed to a cool indie label Dune Altar 2. I had a song in a TV show 3. Fender sent me this guitar! I’ve put all of my energy into music since I started in 2021 & I’m not slowing down ❤️‍🔥
