Honestly. It’s just that simple. Believe them when they drop a racist slur. Believe them when they deadname a trans person. Believe them when they mock someone’s disability. Believe them when they ask if she’d been drinking. And so on. The field of red flags is FERTILE AND ABUNDANT.

Biggest issue with the musical anthologies is how they serve as a walled garden that prevents new and diverse voices from participating. Signed, A Millennial Bronx Puerto Rican who does not listen to or care about Warren Zevon, so why would he submit to something like this - how convenient.

The latest review of On Fire and Under Water and its one hell of a ringing endorsement! From the incredibly-talented, Anthony Award winner Holly West at that. “Best Anthology of the Year.” 🤯🤯

Best Anthology of the Year
A review of On Fire and Under Water by Holly West.

This is, without a doubt, the best anthology I've read this year. With stories by CW Blackwell, Mary Thorson, Puja Guha, Richie Narvaez, Meagan Lucas... do I even have to go on? With each anthology Rock and a Hard Place Press publishes, they up their already stellar game, combining urgent current issues with top-notch writing talent. With editor Curtis Ippolito heading this latest project, they've tapped into one of the most pressing matters humans face: climate change. Each of the stories in this collection portrays a different scenario, but all of them take an unflinching look at the consequences that ordinary people face when so many of the world's leaders refuse to take meaningful action.
