Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 03/09/2026Also ZERO tooling. I have to create my own tools which themselves are augmented versions of Misode's tools and docs (God bless this man). Custom syntax, custom LSP, and a visualizer which Misode reverse-engineered from Minecraft's internals. 100
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 25/08/2026Give me a Minecraft terrain mod that's more noisy and has more small cliffs, plateaus, and ledges. If you need to screenshot your terrain mod from 1000 blocks in the air, then your terrain is too large and it'll feel flat during gameplay. <-- good BAD --> 3100
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 17/08/2026"How many people will use a Mac? Five million? Say you shave 10 seconds off boot time. That's 50 million seconds saved — every single day." -Steve Jobs Bill Gates oversaw quality at Microsoft and vanquished the BSoD, saving hundreds of years of lost work. He was not a saint but he was decent. 200

Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 23/07/2026Theoretically I could publish an executable that installs itself and its icon to your start menu. It seems app listings are kept here. Does everyone else have this directory? Also, VSCode isn't present here, so the icon is installed some *other* way. So how did vscode.deb install its icon??? 100
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 23/07/2026Okay so AppImage doesn't always work. GearLever is really nice and gives the apps a nice icon and puts them in my apps menu but it I couldn't figure out the error. I had to re-dowload the AppImage (GearLever deleted/moved the original file) and play the terminal game to see what's up. 110
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 23/07/2026Do NOT let Linux go into sleep mode because when you wake it the screen might be stuck looking blank and you'll be forced to reboot it, killing whatever you had open. This is default btw. 210
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 21/07/2026I went to install Kubuntu, because hopefully Ubuntu will give me the GPU drivers I need to run KDE Plasma. I clicked "install" and it turned gray. Lang picker doesn't work. I can still select a network. It's doing nothing right now. KDE distros are on a losing streak. Can't even install it. 110
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 20/07/2026A reminder that Flatpak and AppImage don't solve everything -_-' The .rpm from VSCode's official website worked flawlessly though! It opens and runs it like a good 'ol fashioned installer. Software should be downloaded directly through a dev's site this way and come with its own update mechanism 310
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 20/07/2026Oh my word you're kidding me. The Fedora disk installer is a web UI which segfaults when opened. How am I supposed to install this?? pastebin.com/ZnYBhJmq 130

Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 10/07/2026Bsky now requires age verification to use in any capacity. As always, Firefox users can bypass these things with a custom uBlock Origin filter on mobile and desktop, which is easier than completing the age verification itself: gist.github.com/mary-ext/6e2... 70838380
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 25/06/2026I appreciate that. I'm very middle-IQ but also there's a real virtue in making an interesting story set in modern times (1970s+) with fun characters, rather than relying on foreign culture and magic systems to hold my attention. There's a LOT of that stuff already. Case and point: This bot. 100

Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 02/05/2026Summer's almost here! It's about time for the first visual novel event. If you're sitting on music, art, or lots of random PNGs then you're gonna make something neat with it (or share it with someone else who will). But first, let's get acquainted: nemmy.net/discord 0301
Hold on! @holdon.templeoftherat.com · 30/04/2026HUGE nemmy.net update: You can make visual novels now. And guess what? You can share them without even logging in. Pretty cool huh? Also: Speedpaints can save as videos now. If you're an OG user then go download your old paintings and post em on Bksy/Twitter. 2297
