That is to say: liberation theology is very biblical and a strongly evangelical ('evangelical'=based on the Jesus of the Gospels) theology. I think most liberation theologians from Latin America would strongly disagree with this characterization. It's taken straight out of the playbook of Raztinger and the enemies of liberation theology. Liberation theologians said over and over that liberation theology is not Marxist. Nobody listened.

Frequently, 'liberation theology' is associated with poorer parts of the world. In fact, it is probably just as necessary - or even more so - in wealthy societies where people become enslaved by consumerism, careerism, etc. From false promises of hedonistic materialism - Lord liberate us! 🙏 ✝️
