In The Rock 10/10/1980: Gen X release their final single, “Dancing With Myself”, Tony James and Billy Idol are joined by Steve Jones, Danny Kustow and Steve New on lead guitar. Idol later rereleases the track as a solo single, with a bombastic video, and stakes his claim to 80s domination.

#GarageRockTober: The Gants - formed in 1963/64 in Greenwood MS, Sid Herring, Johnny Sanders, Vince Montgomery and Don Wood had gigged around town, had a couple of almost regional hits esp. their take on “Roadrunner”, released 3 LPs but eventually broke up. 1/2

In The Rock 10/10/1994: Elastica release “Connection”, the lead single off their self titled debut LP. It hits the top 20 in the UK, and peaks at number two on the Modern Rock Chart in the states. Did it lift the opening riff from “Three Girl Rhumba” by Wire? Yes. Does it rock? Yes.

#GarageRockTober: The Buzzards, Detroit, MI 1999 Joe “Dirty” Burdick and Maribel Restrepo of the Detroit Cobras, plus the Paterra twins Leslie & Nancy and Nick Lloyd on drums. Gigs followed, rock was made. The single “You Got Me Down” documented the band’s place in the garage rock pantheon.
