I know it's mid-September but I already started looking for new winter boots. I'm pretty annoyed that there are few options with zippers this year. My mobility isn't what it used to be and that feature really helps get them on and off. I live in Canada after all.

I grilled a spatchcocked Portuguese marinade chicken over the campfire yesterday with sweet potatoes, hakurei turnips and radishes. It was amazing and torture while it was cooking.

My dog is a very sweet soul who is obsessed with Highland Coos ever since he spent a few days lost in the woods and was adopted by a herd of cows. I took him to see some today.

The dog and I spotted a doe on our evening walk to the creek. He was more excited about the skunk at the other side of the park. Merlin also picked up an Eastern screech owl during that walk. And yes, I live in Canada's largest city.

I harvested enough garlic from my garden yesterday to keep me well stocked until October or so. It's curing by the mantle. I've got about 25 small heads of garlic, not bad for my first attempt.

I may have been REALLY slow with writing this, but my very first scientific article where I'm the lead author was submitted today to a peer reviewed journal. The grad school process was really tough on me so I'm really excited by this finally happening.
