Presbyterian is a great place. 1. We celebrate EVERY Davidson football win, like Halley’s Comet 2. I do have an appreciation for PC athletics, because Tim Corbin, Vandy baseball coach, came from there and that is my current loyalty!

A great article that inspires 3 questions: 1. I wonder what Hamilton’s national support looks like (because he is emailing TN Methodists a lot). 2. What does Vance think about women senior pastors? (a more foundational UMC belief) 3. Was does Hamilton think about “megapastor”? Because, yuck.

My analogy is they’re like an average basketball team that can’t make its free throws. Can we at least count on you to do the basics right? No, we cannot.

Seems like this “unspecified admissions mistake” should be better understood by the taxpayers by now. Must be some pretty connected kids in that class for gov’t to be satisfied with “oops.”

You know how The Onion runs that same story every time there is a mass shooting? That’s how these stories feel to primary care providers. I want to be clear— this reporting is excellent. I recommend watching it. But whew, I’ve been at this 30 years and it’s only worse.

It’s interesting that I haven’t heard any of the president’s defenders object to anything else in this serious litany of complaints, which just makes it seem MORE like Ossoff is onto something. They didn’t even flinch at “he doesn’t want to do the job.”

Two thoughts about Ogles: 1. Is it giving the TN GOP too much credit to think they intentionally gerrymandered him out (while also screwing us Dems)? 2. What just happened to him is described in this @davidfrenchjag.bsky.social take on “The Odyssey” www.nytimes.com/2026/07/26/o...

A Nashville story. The phrase “cracking down on homelessness” makes me mad (because arresting people does no such thing), but the article does a good job introducing many of the complexities facing people staying in public places.

I would kill or die for Larry
A small operation in Oregon that hunts truffles with a trained dog has added an unpaid trainee. A cat named Larry accompanies the handler and the truffle dog into the woods every outing, works a patch of ground a little apart from them, and digs with tremendous confidence in places where there is nothing.
The handler says Larry has never found a truffle and shows no sign of understanding the assignment. He does not use scent the way the dog does and he does not respond when the dog makes a find.
He simply digs his own holes nearby and then inspects them. "He thinks he's on the team," the handler said. "He is emphatically not on the team."

Here's my bias. I'm a physician who thinks Ivermectin is pretty great for scabies and lice, and the occasional parasite picked up during foreign travel, and not much else. People who claim it does more than that should be required to prove it.

Trey Harrell @hlhiii.bsky.social · 21/06/2026
And finally, the State should collect and share the incidence and details of adverse effects, so that we can all understand the potential risks. Claiming "it has no side effects" is clearly a lie-- even the most basic medicine has possible side effects-- what are they afraid of?
110
Trey Harrell @hlhiii.bsky.social · 21/06/2026
Second, the State needs to explore why pharmacies aren't following the (very few) rules placed on the them to dispense Ivermectin. Third, I'd like to know how much money doctors and pharmacies make dispensing Ivermectin. The pills cost pennies and then are sold for $20. That adds up!
110
Trey Harrell @hlhiii.bsky.social · 21/06/2026
First, if there are people who have been cured by Ivermectin, I would expect them to be willing to have their cases studied. Can you imagine claiming you have discovered a cure for cancers and not sharing the info that could potentially help others?

I'll remember them as the snakebit team who couldn't overcome all the injuries. We felt sure the key to success this year was going to be generating more power at the plate. So they go and hit more HRs than any team in Vandy history. And (probably) miss the tourney anyway. It's a fickle game.
