(can't stop drawing pilots, i can't help myself)

a handful of sketches of horse-girl inspired mech pilots (and a few horses too because i have far more practice drawing actual horses than uma musumes). They kind of range from a full sketch on the left to a sort-of polished drawing on the right. The most polished version wears a cropped jacket over a tight flight suit situation. She has long hair, tanned skin, robotic horse ears, and white elbow-length gloves with ribbons wrapped around them at the elbow. Some text next to her reads "Tangerine Range pilot who says things like 'I won't lose!'"

i have a few more regime-related drawings kicking around

two drawings of the regime's ERO Librarian Federation members. The one the right is posed just sort of standing and looking as if they were perusing books on a shelf or something.

The one on the left is sitting on a tabletop of some kind and has dazed, blank expression on her face. She is drooling slightly as two hands fondle one of her ears. A text prompt above her head reads "investigate ears thoroughly" and a speech bubble exclaims "major interference detected!"

Claw got me on board completely within the first handful of chapters, but the misogyny (probably unsurprisingly) remains a constant undercurrent. I think you can be charitable and say that some of it is intentional and is meant to reflect on Severian, but that obviously only takes you so far

oh I completely missed that you’re reading this!! All I’ll say is that I felt very similarly as you after finishing Shadow, and it wasn’t until a bit into Claw until that it really got its hooks into me.

In which case.

someone told me once (regarding working in the arts) that while it can be fun to talk shit about people/work that you don’t like; it’s a shockingly small world out there and people do notice and remember

I’ve been spared from seeing the actual posts/review this time, but my reaction to negative responses to WARHOUND and mechsplo at large is always that if you’re truly unable to grasp what draws people to the work outside of bad-faith takes then that speaks to your ability to read critically.
