My kids are all older now so I don't read to them anymore but we have 30ish minute drives to school twice a day so we listen to audio books on the drive. They're all avid readers who read for the love of it.

The weather on Mt. Washington is something else. Even going up in the middle of summer can be a wild ride from, "Damn it's so clear & hot today," to, "I can't see a foot in front of my face, I'm cold af & how can it be so windy & seriously, I can't see the eldridge horrors right in front of me?!"

We went through so many electric kettles trying to find one that didn't suck or ultimately failed to keep up with our tea drinking demand. Finally splurged for a Zojirushi 4L water boiler for all the on demand tea (& noodle bowls) but the power draw on that beast when it's boiling is no joke!

Bought some Lays chips at the local collectibles store with the kids yesterday. Google translate was ever so helpful with the Spicy Spicy Pleasure Flavor.

My 2010 Sienna with 3rd row folded & 2nd row seats out (very easy to remove) had a ridiculous amount of cargo space & carried a whole lot of lumber, & I never needed to tie anything down on trips to Ikea.

Also in the papaya tastes like vomit camp, & had to search what a cherimoya was only to realize it's also called a custard apple. My Yaya used to grow so many of them she'd sell the extras to the local grocery store, along with okra & who knows what else!

We grew up with 2 huge mango trees in our back yard & my little sister would eat so many she'd get huge rashes on her face from the acid. Never stopped her from going back for more, though. Also, Bowen mangoes are the best of mangoes.

Kitty litter works great for traction on icy paths too. We keep a few bags of the cheapest clay non clumping bags handy! This stuff is less than $2 a bag.

But also that doesn't actually include the light or lightstand. You don't necessarily need a strobe light for many use cases and can get by with a portable flash & remote controller attached to the camera + an S-bracket adapter for your softbox.

A pop open umbrella softbox is worth the little more they usually cost to save you time & sanity. Having to get all the annoying rods into place all the time is a pia unless you keep it assembled & shoved into a corner all the time. Like this but not necessarily this one (I do have this one though).

The thing both menus are missing is all the staples they assume people readily have or can afford. Where's the butter, oil, the eggs, the heavy cream, the milk, the sugar, the seasonings & spices needed to assemble & cook all this food out of homogenous blandness? That's a lot more $.

Thing 1 & 2 decided on dressing up as the Knight & Hornet this year which meant mama had to make the Nail & (make it rusty!) Needle in a matter of days. So much EVA foam scraps & dust everywhere. #hollowknight #silksong #knight #hornet #halloween
