I've just remembered that today is the feast day of St. Bartholomew, who allegedly preached the Gospel in Parthia (Armenia) before going all the way to India. (Tradition has it that he was flayed to death.) This means that today is also the 454th anniversary of the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre.

I am so heartbroken for Jason Arday and for his family. He was clearly a troubled soul who needed help, not being relentlessly pursued by white supremacists in the press. Now he's dead and the anti-DEI contingent will not stop targeting scholars of color.

I really like Starfleet Academy. I think it is astonishingly well done. One of my fav aspects: it celebrates the arts and music the way that Next Generation did. This episode structured by Thornton Wilder's Our Town is really very well done.
