It’s been kind of nonstop since Silver Week ended. I should really just take it easy tomorrow but there’s another event I kind of want to go to, or at least make an appearance

The event was great though, to be fair. I got to chat with a bunch of my favorite coffee people and had too much coffee (again) but it was earlier in the day, so I think I’ll be able to sleep better

Sometimes Hiroshima really do be having small town vibes. The metal zipper on my beloved backpack stopped zipping, so I went to a カバン専門店 on Hondōri where an acquaintance of mine from two years ago works. I met him at a local 飲み屋 but only saw him sporadically>>

Recent Hiroshima eats roundup! Details in alt 🍜 Taikō Ramen 🍵 Akam Coffee Works ☕️ Kiki Coffee
The perfect bowl for extended summers, the dashi-based soup is light, but still brimming with umami, accented by a toasty oil made from green onion and dried sardines. Topped with earthy myōga, crunchy cucumber, decorative and colorful strips of daikon and carrot, and two types of juicy chāshū (thinly sliced pork shoulder and thick-cut chicken breast), there’s plenty of fun textures that add to the experience. But the crown jewel is the high hydration noodles that provide an incredible snappy, chewy texture. Add a big squeeze of lemon halfway through for extra summer zing! So glad I got to try their chilled ramen this year.Matcha gelato made in-house with a mixture of espresso and red bean paste makes one incredible affogato Latte and my favorite weekend citron

hell yeah
Put simply, translators must not cede a single inch of ground to machine translation. Translation is an art, not a merely utilitarian tool or necessary evil, and as such it is filled with choice and interpretation and subjectivity and craft and all the other things that make us human. AI-produced versions are not “translating” in any meaningful way so much as stealing and repackaging past human work, all while contributing to the false notion that objective translation is possible. What makes translation interesting is the human choice that has gone into it, and I do not want to spend one moment of my precious human life contemplating the “choices” an LLM has made – perhaps, if they are truly intelligent, they will one day make their own art for each other.
