Finally read Five Little Indianas by Michelle Good. 👀 📚 💙

A graphic shows the cover of the book, Five Little Indians. Text reads: 293 pages, Heartbreaking and tragic. I absolutely recommend, genre: literary fiction, read this book in 2 weeks, released in 2020, author: Michelle good.

Graphic shows I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. The review reads: Five Little Indians
Five Little Indians follows the lives of 5 indigenous peoples after they escaped or were released from residential schools in Canada where they experienced horrific abuse as children.
They are dropped in the middle of Vancouver with little money or belongings, virtually no knowledge of life outside of the residential school, and no idea how to reunite with their families. With no counseling, they must all deal with their trauma in their own way.
This book is absolutely tragic and heartbreaking, but there are some hopeful bright spots throughout. As difficult as it was to read this book, I think it is an important read.

OMG! We busted out Munchkin last night. I haven’t played it in years. Guess what I found in the box?? One of my missing Chessex Confetti Borealis (the d10)!! Now I’m only missing the d8 and d12! 🎲

Clear dice with rainbow sparkles. Pictured is the d4, d6, d10, d20, and the percentile die.

I did it!! I just finished my VERY LAST book sleeve in preparation for the craft fair! It brings me to a total of 109 across 3 different styles and 2-3 different sizes of each style. 🧶 👀📚💙

It’s amazing how somebody can be an energy vampire through text/voice messages. I love being shit on when I was trying to be nice.

HippieKender @hippiekender.bsky.social · 27/06/2025

Heck yeah! I sewed 7 book sleeves today! Almost TWICE what I normally sew! I think that brings me to a total of 96 sleeves sewn. I’m going to try to get a handful of bookmarks sewn up, too, before I call it a night. Please tell me you’re proud of me 😅 🪡 🧶

78 book/kindle sleeves in various sizes… and it still doesn’t feel like enough to fill a table at a craft fair. (I still have about 30 to go) 🪡 🧶

Nothing sewn today, but I did prep 14 more sleeves. Hopefully I can hit my self-imposed quota of 4 tomorrow. It’s a busy day, but I’m hopeful I can do it! #sewing #sewsky 🪡

Yes, this exactly! Currently, my only options for buying local fabric are Walmart and Hobby Lobby and I really don’t want to be shopping at either one!

I have a little tabletop one and I wish I had a full size one. It takes up so much of my workspace but it’s fine for little projects. It does make ironing out yards of fabric tricky. (Note: I only use it for crafting/sewing. Never for ironing store bought clothes before I wear them.)

I started Don’t Let the Forest In and I’m really enjoying it. The prose is lovely and I’m really liking the storyline. It all reminds me of a drawing my son made (ironically, his name is Thomas, too). 💙📚👀

I’ve been chugging along, prepping for the craft fair. I have 70 book sleeves/dust jackets made. Only 38 more to go! I’ve been aiming for 4 per day. I need to leave myself time to build or find displays for everything! #craftfairprep #sewsky

I 3D printed some bookmarks today. The top set was my first attempt. They weren’t quite purple enough, so I fixed that on the bottom set. 👀📚💙

Y’all. My daughter sang at an elementary concert last night. I had to sit through 23 songs before she sang - 3 of them were “bucket drums” and FOURTEEN were kids playing recorders. It was my own personal hell.

Okay, you’ve convinced me! Fantasy wins! I’ll be starting Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales. The other options were Yellow Wife and Chain-Gang All-Stars. 👀📚💙🐉📚

Like, welcome to the world. Boycotts are painful, it’s why they can be so powerful. If it were easy then the thing we are boycotting would not necessarily be as powerful as they are e.g. Amazon”

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if your health care/insurance wasn’t tied to your employer? If you could just see a doctor and not worry about it being a preexisting condition when you get new insurance? Too bad you voted against it. 🙄

Book review: Seed by Ania Ahlborn. 👀📚💙

A paperback copy of Seed by Ania Ahlborn sits inside a shoebox. There is a box of text to the right that says “This book was creepy right from the beginning. Maybe it’s because I have kids and maybe it’s because my kids did creepy things, like sleepwalking, when they were little, but this book made me want to hide under my covers so the monsters can’t get me. There is a good amount of miscommunication trope, which I don’t love, and the dad was very passive about what was happening which pmo, but it’s sort of explained why’s overall, I really enjoyed this book.”

An app specifically made for talking about books! They made it as a space for booktok to go for if/when it gets taken away again. Right now it’s only available for iOS but they’re working on the Android version and there’s a website Tomebooks.com - it all just launched a couple of days ago.

Books 8 and 9 I’m really loving the Scythe series. I can’t wait to start book 3. Lights out was fun and ridiculous. I think I may have enjoyed the audiobook slightly more than the ebook. 👀📚💙📚🪐🧶
