Brian is correct here. It's pure ego to look at the police collaborating with ICE and come to the conclusion that cops have changed for the worse. They are like this because they've been like this. The people who annoyed you by telling you to abolish or defund the police were right. Sorry.

ICE cannot do what it’s doing without local law enforcement. They need their manpower and infrastructure. That means if you want to stop ICE you are going to have to confront police collaboration and police power. I’m sorry but progressive hopes of avoiding this conflict are a recipe for failure.

@majorityreport.bsky.social and countless others have tried to separate these fights and argue reigning in the police is a nonstarter nationally while hatred of ICE has been growing. It’s just factually incorrect and strategically impossible.

it is foolish and self defeating for the lefts not to be connecting the dots for people here.

Thanks, I found the section he's quoting and of course, BadEmpanada is too stupid to actually play the sentence before it where the transcript seems to imply Dead Domain literally says "I enjoy these hopeful words from an optimistic LA Times". All evidence points to them endorsing the quote.
