i should probably add onto this. the main reason i’m shutting down my gumroad is the garbage AI stuff they’re pushing. the blue section in image 1 used to say they were phasing out manual changes to your profile, which i suspect they’ll still do given the text below. then there’s image 2.

given the effect my samsung monitor has, i figured it should be totally possible to apply that “overlay” to an already dim montior. apparently it is possible! but it’s janky. you need to turn off DDC/CI. so you lose the handy controls, but then you can use that slider to further reduce brightness:

i think my position is this:
i get that ai use in code is becoming normal. i’m not a fan, but i put up with that. i think my bigger issue is with generative ai coming anywhere near the furry fandom, in any form. if being a furry isn’t about being creative, unique, and expressing yourself, then what is it about? you absolutely can be expressive with code, i mean we both do that with our websites. but ai strips that away entirely. so to see people accept and normalize its use in the fandom like that just kinda scares me i suppose. i strongly think that it’s something furries should have 0 tolerance for.
