My newest game uses cards. Specifically it uses tarot cards. I've said before I don't like cards as randomizers and that is still true. However, the tarot cards in Calling Cards are storytelling support vehicles, not success and failure randomizers. For me, cards are much slower 1/3 #ttrpg #games

Game Design Idea Small groups are given a box/bag of LEGO. Then they are given instructions for a random build of at least 100 bricks. Assign people different roles: instruction reader, project manager, builder and have the team work through the difficulties. #teamBuilding #gameDesign

I've seen a few conversations about starter adventure design recently. My advice is pretty simple. Highlight the selling proposition of your game. Make a story that highlights your setting and/or cool mechanics. After that, I recommend set pieces rather than a railroad. #ttrpg #gamedesign

A post I made about the awesome #indiettrpg scene in the DC Maryland, Virginia area. #gamefacecon #indiescene #ttrpg

The second store was mostly board gamers, but also around 30 people throughout the store and the one RPG table was an indie game.

Today I was at an explicitly indie TTRPG event in Baltimore with 50 some companies selling their games and it was packed. I had one of the best sales days I've ever had at a convention. Tomorrow will likely be less busy, but I'm still looking forward to another day with such a cool community. I also got to see a bunch of friends I haven't seen in awhile, which was a delight.

Some people complain about their gaming community, but in the DC Metro area we are blessed with an amazing set of awesome folks creating and selling amazing games. And also, blessed with a vibrant community buying and playing these games.
