Ultimately I think human authorship is impoetant, even if AI tools are part of the process. (Part of, not the start and finish)

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV's Al encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olah's team then privately lobbied the pope's advisers "to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously." Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing.

I don’t believe AI has consciousness because it seems all discussion around it is marketing fluff.

Illustration of G1 Optimus Prime, showing the Autobot Leader "flying" towards the horizon over a desert landscape at sunset, while waving a hand towards the viewer. The image is drawn at an angle.

Here's Rodya! The loveable gambling addict with a heartbreaking streak on her axe! Rodion (Limbus Company) belongs to Project Moon #LimbusRodion #LimbusCompany #fanart #digital_art Like and follow if you enjoy my art and want to see more

A portrait shot of Rodya, from Limbus Company. Wearing only her uniform shirt, slighly unbottomed to reveal part of her chest and her breast tattoo (a stylized depiction of an anatomical heart on her left breast). She's winking at the camera while raising her right shoulder up to her face in a coquettish pose.

The background is a simple square in variations of her Sinner color (#820000, "Lusty Burgundy"), with her Sinner emblem (a heart similar to her tattoo, getting struck by an axe and surrounded by ribbons) on the upper right corner.
