“An… offering?”
“Yes,” Cain says simply. The flickering light from the candles frames the suddenly eerie smile on his face. “Human is good. Cursed human is best.”
“W-Wait-” Abel stumbles back, but Cain matches him, step for step.

Abel’s heart drops. He thinks of ‘I want to grow old together,’ of ‘I will not give up on you,’ and-
“Okay,” he says weakly, trying to keep the heartbreak from showing on his face. Graham’s feelings are more important right now. “Hey, that’s okay. You’re not obligated to stay with me just ‘cause we’re cursed together, I mean-”
“Abel, no!” Graham says quickly, reaching out to take Abel’s hands in his own, and Abel pretends he isn’t trying to memorize the feeling. “I’m not breaking up with you! I- Unless you’re breaking up with me, I guess…”
“I’m not breakin’ up with you,” Abel says quickly. “Definitely not. Not even a little bit.”
“Then we’re not breaking up,” Graham says, smiling delicately. “I still love you, like, so much.”

“Stop!” Cain shouts, nearly begging now. “You don’t understand what that passage is capable of!”
Graham keeps reading, his expression twisted in focus, until suddenly the candles all go out, one by one, starting at the candle nearest to Graham and going all the way around the circle. Unnatural shadows fill the warehouse, and Oliver and Tomás quickly step away from Cain as the shadow solidifies around the man’s ankles.

Here's the first one that came up in my work Time to Kill for #WIPSnips!

Abel starts a relaxed pace back out of the building and off campus, and Graham settles into a surprisingly easy rhythm beside him.
It's quiet at first, but once they're outside, Graham finally gathers up the courage he needs to at least try to explain. Oliver didn't believe him. Tomás didn't believe him, either. But… third time's the charm?
"I'm in a time loop," Graham says, like ripping off a band-aid.
"Shit," Abel immediately replies, letting out a puff of air in surprise. "Okay. Damn."

The Pitch:

Graham hasn't talked to Abel in almost two years… but when he finds himself trapped in a time loop centered around Abel's death, it becomes pretty hard to stay away. Graham employs the help of his old friends in an effort to keep Abel alive until the next day, but it proves to be much harder than Graham could have ever anticipated when he learns he's not the only one carrying a curse on his shoulders.

With more and more things going wrong in every loop, can Graham find a way to escape the time loop without losing everything important to him?

Time to Kill is a story in 4 parts, each following one of the 4 main characters. These 4 main characters are each afflicted with a separate curse without (most) of the others knowing it.

Abel dies and resurrects the next day, over and over, and no one ever remembers.

Until Graham gets stuck in a time loop centered around Abel’s deaths.

The Grim Reaper follows Oliver, warning him when Abel is about to die...

While Abel’s best friend Tomás is afflicted with a curse that kills anyone he touches.

Snippet:

"It's not just to- I have my reasons!"

"You always 'have your reasons,'" Abel says mockingly, throwing his hands up. "Go have them somewhere else." He whirls around, walking off in the opposite direction, and Graham's worry explodes into full-blown panic.

"Nonono, please, please, please don't go," Graham begs him, his voice breaking pitifully.

Abel quickly comes to a stop, turning around with a concerned expression. He studies Graham for a moment, and Graham is so fucking scared for him, scared that he's messed this loop up already and Abel is going to walk away and die. He clenches his fists, digging his nails into the palms of his hands as he squeezes his eyes shut. Then he hears footsteps walking hesitantly towards him, and he sniffles as he opens his eyes.

"Graham," Abel says, much more gentle now. "What's going on?"
