Wild collision of generations: Weegee photographed the young Yayoi Kusama as she body-painted dots on one of the participants in a performance of hers, 1967.

NYT is always "progressives should abandon their principles! Sell out! Sell out! SELL OUT!" This is something you will constantly find at the NYT, a piece dressed up as a news article that is editorializing frantically for a political position, not neutrally presenting the facts.

Meaningless but evocative: Rex Reed died on John Simon's birthday. (There's a moment in Albert Brooks's 'Real Life' when he cites the two of them as the cruelest critics he has to contend with.)

One of the greatest of all production designers. Picture the streets of old Little Italy, Fredo and Michael in Cuba, the Tahoe lake house in Godfather Part II. Not to mention a dozen other Coppola films, and, of course, Bonnie and Clyde. RIP Dean Tavoularis. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

This week is the first at the Daily News since Heath Freeman's Alden Capital laid off our entire print production staff. It's embarrassing to open the paper we work so hard for each day and find mistakes like this. Is this the level of editing New Yorkers can count on going forward?

The greatest of imagine-if-Biden-had-said-this scenarios. (From Ben Terris's story at @nymag.com.)
Quote: Fred Trump died in 1999 at age 93. He had, Trump said, a “heart that couldn’t be stopped” with almost no health conditions to speak of throughout his long life. “He had one problem,” Trump said. “At a certain age, about 86, 87, he started getting, what do they call it?” He pointed to his forehead and looked to his press secretary for the word that escaped him.

“Alzheimer’s,” Leavitt said.

“Like an Alzheimer’s thing,” Trump said. “Well, I don’t have it.”

“Is it something you think about at all?” I asked.
