No, not affiliated with the .net I just thought the image was funny a long time ago and too stubborn to change it. I was here first.

Putting scare quotes on Trans doesn’t exactly help the “i am not a bigot” thing.

Dear people who leave a full load of dishes on a table at an establishment that clearly isn’t a place with full table service: You are lazy, overprivileged, and another reason why working folks in the bay hate tech workers.

In any case what the internet changed was making leftist (anti-capitalist) voices less ignorable. They were always there but unless you actively went looking they were largely invisible to the every day person. Major media outlets and publications simply ignored them.

You’re confusing Socialism and Marxism which did have a break during the end of the First International. Anarchism is and always has been a socialist movement outside of some of its more niche tendancies. It’s why no Anarchist considers Anarcho-Capitalism to be Anarchist. It is an oxymoron.

I wouldn’t say it has a major impact either but it can be very grating hearing the same dismissive takes over and over so I made a joke.

No I literally do not understand what you mean if it isn’t essentially what I said. I wasn’t being facetious. Yes obviously those distinctions predate those discussions but socialists especially anarchists have been fighting for those issues long before the internet was a major cultural player.

What? In Europe the Liberals are considered a moderate to conservative political movement and socialists are well to their left.

HexBear @hexbear.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
What was there to engage with? It was a statement assuming that because most people are ignorant of the vast gulf of difference between liberalism and socialism that the distinction must be made up. What do I even say to that? Anybody trying to engage was shut down and the thread locked.

My 1,000pt Votann list is complete! Well, complete enough. I’ll be adding details forever I’m sure. Went mostly Ironkin just to crack jokes if I play against Mechanicus. “no abominable intelligence here! Who wants to get all up in fighting my golden beepboop lads?

ICE must be destroyed 🏳️‍⚧️🏴 @miawong.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Really truly was not expecting to see the second part of this after the quote that's just straight analysis of labor under capitalism in PC Gamer of all places????? Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
It's become particularly nasty with generative AI, however, because now said CEOs can still see an end result that mimics the thing they don't understand—and are able to self-delude themselves into thinking it's replicable at scale, or that it's even producing the same quality as the product they've actually been selling.

After all, if actual studies are being done into AI-induced psychosis that's impacting us serfs, there's nothing to say the executive suite is immune, either. Especially given that a lot of them don't even understand why others are put off. It's become particularly nasty with generative AI, however, because now said CEOs can still see an end result that mimics the thing they don't understand—and are able to self-delude themselves into thinking it's replicable at scale, or that it's even producing the same quality as the product they've actually been selling.

There’s still folks justifying it which is a problem. I don’t trust anybody who is able to handwave away and even celebrate them as good things. Luckily it is basically only terminally online people who do so. On the ground helping folks nobody gives a shit.

I remember when someone tried to argue with me about this on here, saying it was survivorship bias, and not my own comparisons of the same brands' material quality and stitching over the past 30+ years. Anyway, yes shit is actually more poorly made now than it used to be even a short while ago.

Since GW has been so light on lore details for the Leagues up to this point, I am maintaining this headcannon until proven otherwise. Castellans from the Mechanicus are up-scaled Ironkin created from archeotech blueprints stripped of “abominable intelligence” and reprogrammed by friggin punchcards.

*ahem* It isn’t made EXPLICITLY clear but I think it is almost certain that Ironkin are just Men of Iron who didn’t self modify into murder bots. The Leagues of Votann treated sentient machines as family. While the rest of Humanity got blasted into the stone age, Kin and Ironkin stayed homies.

After painting I can glue the rust all around the feet so it looks like the Kin is crunching through some jacked up space hulk.

HexBear @hexbear.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
Opting to glue this fella onto the base now because I think i have a cool idea for texture. Since I work on ships covered in corten steel there are always a ton of layers of flaked off rust layers sitting around. Going to start collecting it so I can pile bits of rusted steel around the feet.

Only realizing now that i want to drill a hole into the barrel of the Autoch Pattern Bolter. Probably would have been easier to do that before gluing 😰

Ironkin Steeljack #1 complete. Started my Theyn so I only have to deal with that crest once. There is no socket to easily orient it so i drilled a small hole after it slumped to the side and got crooked the first time. I had to break it off and glue it again. The model quality is AWESOME though.

It isn’t an explicitly antifascist music festival but the venn diagram of people interested in ‘sober metal festival centering indigenous social causes’ sits almost completely in the ‘holds antifascist beliefs’ circle. I did not see one questionable patch or tattoo and a TON of leftist ones.

I saw my whole camp crew from last year and had a group photo. A guy I met who had uh questionable beliefs who I’ve been politely confronting online is now basically an antifascist anarchist. When he saw me he just hug tackled me. Saw a good heart in the dude last year and he is so much less bitter.

I didn’t see a single piece of intentional litter in 4 days. The winds got gusty in the evenings which led to a lot of random flying objects but it was very common to see somebody run after a napkin that wasn’t even theirs. People shared freely of food and drinks, stories, camp supplies, etc.

an incredibly diverse crowd that defies the expectations of who you’d find at a metal festival. No alcohol is permitted so it is an all family event. Kids in the pit being shielded by an invisible barrier that everybody is careful to maintain, mom and dad among them, grandma on a chair at the edge.

It’s delivered dry up until about a sentence before the punchline, takes a slight turn for the absurd catching you off guard, then the punchline hits and you realize the whole previous story was just a set up to fuck with you. Then there is the attendees who just stand apart of any festival crowd.
